I can not get enough of this Passion Pit song. If anyone can give me some comparable stuff, I'd appreciate it sooooooo much. I've been constantly looping this for the past few days.. <br> <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4zherMkcXdo&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4zherMkcXdo&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
Do you just like this one song or their whole album? They came through town a few months ago, and surprisingly it was sold out. Harlem Shakes was the opener. Miike Snow has a similar sound to this band. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/niKT-kJfUz4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/niKT-kJfUz4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Growing up, my 3 favorite bands initially were Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, and Pink Floyd. So, it's just those 3 for the entire week: Favorite Zep: Led Zeppelin III (yes, III) Favorite Tull: Thick as a Brick Favorite Floyd: Animals BTW, if anyone's going to the Roger Daltrey show at the Winstar Casino in Thackerville, OK (I think it's the 1st exit after you cross from TX to OK, so it's like 4-5 hours from H-Town), let me know. 10-22!!!!!
ive been on a malawian music kick the last few months - anyone heard of ali farka toure? his son, vieux farka toure put out probably my favorite album of the year (fondo). beautiful guitar playing. almost hendrixian in his ability to both rock and hypnotize you at the same time. his album is w/ a full band and electric guitars, but this is pretty cool too... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GRYi89cvr3w&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GRYi89cvr3w&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> there is another band called tinariwen, whose music is refereed to as 'desert blues' - its like 5 electric guitar players doing all these overlapping melodies/riffs over a really funky rhythm section. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3hR6eWexxZA&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3hR6eWexxZA&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Souvlaki - Slowdive (2nd straight time to listen to it all the way through) Lazer Guided Melodies - Spiritualized Playing With Fire - Spacemen 3 Burnt Weeny Sandwich - Frank Zappa Real Gone - Tom Waits From Her to Eternity - Nick Cave Safe as Milk - Captain Beefheart
I liked it but it wasn't as "immediate" as "Souvlaki" if that makes sense. I plan on giving it another go through tomorrow as well as the Spacemen 3 album. I mean there are 2 tracks off the Slowdive album in "Souvlaki Space Station" and "When the Sun Hits" that are absolute mind-blowing but at the same time memorable enough that they stayed in my head. I don't doubt that J Spaceman has some mindblowing stuff on the Spiritualized disc (and the Spacemen 3 for that matter) but it hasn't stayed in my head....yet.

BTW, Torn N Frayed - what are your thoughts on Spiritualized's "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating Into Space" album? Do you think it is a better album than "Lazer Guided Melodies" or not?
Oh, that's a very good debate! I am very attached to LGM that it's hard to compare them, both are Jason Spaceman's best work, IMO. Ladies and Gentlemen is not a album I put on very much since it's a heartbroken soundtrack, ie it's not easy listening! For me I would put LGM in my top 10 ATF's, so I suppose that would be my choice.
