I had been posting stuff with keyboards and now have transitioned to be more in agreement with what you and Manny are posting. I realize that you appear to be much younger than me and I know very little of what you post. You might have heard what I post from older relatives. It was just a nudge to signal that I was adapting to you and Manny with no bite intended.
No worries, I wouldn't say too much younger but it depends. I like to continue to evolve and listen to new things as time passes. It's ironic, not yourself but as a tangent for different generations in the 50s people told the younger generation Elvis was a terrible influence and profane for his gestures on stage and lyrics. Then that generation did the same for the 60s and 70s artists and the cycle repeats. I admired older people who were dynamic thinkers and could change their minds over time to appreciate new methods/creativity, while still valuing the older classics. Thanks I appreciate that keep posting what you really enjoy and what makes you happy, as diverse as this city is it will resonate with someone and expose people to different artists they may not have heard before.
Taking a break from the funk and soul as from time to time, I will listen to stuff by my 4 great underrated bands: Animal Collective (also includes Avey Tare and Panda Bear), The Dream Syndicate (also includes Steve Wynn), Eleventh Dream Day, and Yo La Tengo. Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion Yo La Tengo - I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass
Funny story related to your post; we routinely walk the Georgetown, Texas square and there’s a young lady who regularly plays guitar on the corner. As we stop to listen, she’s playing “Breezin” and I told her it was inspiring that someone as young as her even knew George Benson. She was shocked I recognized it…I bought her a glass of wine.
Horrible cameraman notwithstanding, this footage is amazing. Jeff Beck joins SRV around the 22 minute mark... Only Stevie could hold his own with Jeff.
Will start with a group that crossed over from Gospel music and will eventually finish with a performer who lived life to the fullest and sometimes went beyond that.
