Nah - is he also similar to Tom Waits? I'll need to check him out but right now on the CDs I am buying, I have been on an experimental/avant-garde kick with people like Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Sun Ra, Public Image Limited, Liars, Gong, Ornette Coleman, Lee Scratch Perry, and The Residents with also some Nick Cave and PJ Harvey thrown in.
one of the greatest songs in rock history, and one of best versions to boot: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AQFeuAbLHro&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AQFeuAbLHro&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> god bless the grateful dead
I may pick up Bowie later, as after "Let's Dance", I don't have a lot of interest in his later albums past that one. So, I am listening to "Anthology 1947-1972" - Muddy Waters 50 of some of the greatest blues songs of all-time.
Voyage - I Love You Dancer. Disco from the 80's. Sounds like indie hipster rock from 09. I swear I heard a song recently that sounds like a total copy of this, or maybe they sampled this? Or maybe I'm just getting senile. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iSfHepsL9wI&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iSfHepsL9wI&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
In honor of the Beatles Rock Band being released, must go through all the Beatles' studio CDs: Please, Please Me With The Beatles Hard Day's Night Beatles for Sale Help Rubber Soul Revolver Sgt. Pepper The Beatles Yellow Submarine Abbey Road Let It Be Magical Mystery Tour Past Masters, Vol. I & II Favorite? Still have to go with The Beatles (The White Album), although I like the U.S. version of Rubber Soul.
I already bought Sgt Pepper and The Beatles (white album) remastered- on sale for 11.99 at Hastings- very worth it, just for the liner notes alone. Sound is great.
Got The White Album, Abbey Road, Revolver & Rubber Soul. Wanted the Stereo box set, but they were all sold out on pre orders.
Early Recordings of Skip James (on Yazoo Records) - Skip James Camembert Electrique - Gong Best of Howlin' Wolf, Volume 2 - Howlin' Wolf
The 3 Keane albums. We're seeing them tomorrow night. We've got babysitters for the kids and are planning a dinner\concert date night. Damn, I can't remember the last time we got to do that.
So with all of Manny's talk about Roxy Music, I got some of there albums and I have to say they are pretty good. Roxy Music, For Your Pleasure, Avalon Right now though, its rise and shine with Tom Waits - Mule Variations You got to get behind the mule in the morning and plow
Man I can't wait to get my hands on the beatles stereo box set, but freaking amazon has a delay for 2 to 3 weeks delivery.. Anybody else know where I can buy the stereo set at the same price on Amazon or maybe cheaper?
I got a bug for Robin Trower Live today. If you guys dug the Allmans at Fillmore East I was harping a week ago then try this one. Trower is The master of sustain. This album also features the late James Dewar on vocals, for my money one of the best rock vocalist ever. It's rocking blues with pyrotechnic guitar work but much of it is at a slow dreamy pace that really brings the 'live' feeling to the disc. enjoy!
