Just finished watching Mindhunter. Listening to a bit of Gary Numan at the moment thanks to this song showing up in the show: Never knew it was sampled for Basement Jaxx's Where's Your Head At
After the news about the Delta Variant of Covid-19, this is where I would like to be, except with better equipment and a groovy house.
in utero is the only nirvana album i still listen to. im glad i saw them on that tour (astroarena in december 1993). i only went to that show b/c the breeders were opening and i almost left before nirvana b/c it was a school night...im glad i stuck around...i would have felt like a dumbass for the rest of my life. nirvana were a great live band. from what i remember, the band was on the verge of breaking up so i dont think there would have been a follow-up. cobain and michael stipe were actually going to do a record together, which would have been interesting.
Was there as well. Shonen Knife was on before Breeders (meh). Breeders were kicking serious ass but crowd was a bit disinterested, which pissed me off. Nirvana killed it.
My wife controls Spotify in the house, which is a good thing given the utter choice paralysis that overtakes me due to having every album ever at my fingertips. These are some of the artists/albums that have been on regular rotation during the Covid pandemic: The Deer - Do No Harm Andy Shauf - The Party Vodi - Talk Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising In addition to these, we typically let Spotify lapse into "station" mode, where it plays similar artists to the selected album/artist. Not everything you hear is a winner, but it definitely can lead to interesting discoveries.
Dusted off the first Korn album after watching the Woodstock 99 doc. Probably haven’t listened to them in 20 years, but 15 year old me was obsessed with them. I saw them at the International Ballroom (think that was the name of the venue) in the mid to late 90s. I can probably look it up. Anyway the crowd shot at around 1:25 in that Woodstock performance is insane.
Not to take anything away from her, but the production on that Weyes Blood album kind of steals the show for me. So good! The guy who produced it was in a band called Foxygen, who had some pretty great albums as well in the early 2010s, but nothing as good as Titanic Rising.
That is the most memorable moment of the whole thing for me... Well, except for the activities back in my tent. Crowd was more amped up than for Metallica or anyone else I can think of. Was never a huge Korn guy but it still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
