Nirvana - In Utero Alice in Chains - Facelift This is about the 3rd time in the last 6 months that I have really listened to "In Utero" and that album really grows more and more on me. Too bad that we will never know what the next studio album would have been like from them.
ADAM Wolfpack is a band out of Greece that has a similar sound you can tell is inspired by AiC. Might enjoy if that's been your vibe lately.
Ah yes - there is nothing dearer and closer to my heart than a little Don Van Vliet. I have referenced the title to that album many times in my life (I'm Gonna Do What I Wanna Do),
In reference to an inter-office email about office theft, a young female colleague jokingly mentioned her fear of being "burglarized" at work. Well, that set off a chain of synaptic firings straight to "I'm Gonna Booglarize You Baby" which then sent me down the Beefheart rabbit hole. Sent her the video and she said it was like hearing a hallucination. I sent her Trout Mask Replica and said, "buckle up."
Buckle up is putting it mildly....I remember the first time I listened to Trout Mask, it was like 11 years ago and I was bewildered, amused, amazed and terrified all at the same time. Then I listened to Lick My Decals off and that is when I was hooked. Maybe early Pere Ubu but very few artists out there were as original and unique as the Captain.
Listening to some proto-grunge today in the great Greg Sage...he of the Wipers fame: Wipers - Youth of America Wipers - Is This Real?
