most of yall will probably hate this, but this is the most mind-blowing band ive heard in awhile. these kids are barely out of their teens and just put out their 2nd album. first album was pretty out there, but this is some next level weirdness...and the video is crazy! the music has bits of zappa, 70's miles davis, mr. bungle, mars volta...its just so unlike anything else going on right now.
There are a lot of artists that I had wished I had gotten into a lot sooner than I had: Captain Beefheart Sparks all of Italian progressive rock music Yo La Tengo Wire just to name a few but now I am going to add Coil to that list. It's like a friendlier version of Throbbing Gristle (which of course makes sense since they are an offshoot of TG) but still with an edge. Believe me - this is not music you would hear on the radio. But as I was listening to "Backwards" yesterday, it made me realize that I should have had this whole group's discography a looooong time ago.

Props to the YouTube algorithm that got me to watch this video for the first time in probably 25+ years.
