A great modern version of La Vie en Rose.

    A great Vulfpeck cover.

    M. Ward's new album Migration Stories is great.

I was at this free concert on June 26, 1971. It was pouring rain. Pink Floyd opened with the song below, which is an excellent remaster of Careful With That Axe, Eugene that I was very pleased to find on YouTube today. The rest of the concert is likely on YouTube, as well. It was at a huge park that lies between Amstelveen and the city of Amsterdam called Amtserdamse Bos, the concert taking place at the outdoor theatre there. It sticks in my mind because I met a Dutch girl who was on her way back into Amsterdam from the concert. I was with a fellow I had met at a "sleep-in" in central Amsterdam and we had become friends. It was still raining and we were soaked.

At the next stop after we got on the tram going back, this beautiful girl with long blonde hair and pale green eyes boarded. She was soaked as well, and this being 1971, we could see that she looked as good from the neck down as she did from the neck up. My friend and I looked at each other and we both started to get up to offer her a seat, but she took an empty seat next to a woman about 10 feet in front of us. So we sat back down.

Next stop? The woman she was next to got off, the seat next to her was empty, and since I happened to be on the aisle, I got there first. We talked all the way back. She was from Haarlem, in for the concert and intending to head back on the train, but when I asked her if she'd like to get a beer with us, she said sure. One beer turned into many and the three of us found ourselves walking next to a canal late that night. My friend was a cool guy, picked up on how well the two of us were getting along, and said he'd see me later at the sleep-in. It may have rained that day, but it had stopped and the wet streets reflected what light there was. It had been a great day, and turned into a far better night. We spent most of the next several weeks together. All thanks to Pink Floyd. When I think of it, I'm still surprised that I eventually flew back.

Lord, I had a crush on Tamia back in the 90's, and if Grant Hill hadn't stolen her from me... I swear... lol. :D Tamia's original version of this song is beautiful.

I really like the original version of that song. And...I still can't match that voice up with that person (Laura Pergolizzi). Cool version.
