    Todd Rundgren - Runt

It makes me feel good. He played all the instruments himself, but I saw him do it in the Music Hall with a band. It was excellent. As usual, the concert was better than the LP.

10cc were such an under-appreciated band, overshadowed by the success of "I'm not in love," the song which itself is really brilliant, but has been overused & overexposed.

    thanks for the shoutout!

venga venga was written while i was living in brazil during the turbulent 60's. i got really deep into the tropicallia scene that was happening at the time in south america and moved down there for a spell. this is the tune that made me a star throughout south america. its nice to know that after all these years people are still enjoying it!

"love will get you high" is from my late 70's album of the same name. i had returned from south america and became a touring keyboard player for the doobie brothers for a few years. but i got fired for taking a dump in michael mcdonalds louis vuitton handbag. after that i put together the band that ended up recording this song. you can definitely hear the influence of the doobies on this...we had some good times before tom johnston became a born again christian and quit the band...after that michael mcdonald joined and killed the funk. some critics have pointed out that this particular song represented a real growth in my songwriting, which i always appreciated. it was just a funky little thing we did, but im glad people still love it!

It's the only honorable thing to do as a real doobie bro. You done right, jo mama.

I have forgiven Emily Haines for ignoring my marriage proposals and anxiously await Metric's new album.

I've been making my way through the Rolling Stone top 500 album list they released in 2012. Started last January at #500 and now down to #97. Let me just say The Who is the most overrated band of all-time.

wow! thats a major listening project you are doing! quite the commitment, but i bet you have stumbled upon a bunch of great stuff you were previously unaware of.

im doing something similar, but not quite as ambitious. i recently started picking a band i love and listening to their entire discography in order. ive only done 3 bands so far...the cure, cocteau twins and stereolab... its cool to listen in order and hear a band evolve over the course of multiple albums. plus, with all three bands i ended up "discovering" some of the late-period work that i previously wrote off and ignored.

They were NEVER the same band once Keith Moon died. Entwistle and Moon were the greatest rhythm section ever, IMO.

I was two when this was recorded. They were a bit raw, the crowd (which appeared to be accustomed to the Beatles) were a bit slow to come around, but it really showed what was to come. This is one of my favorite songs of their's, but I had never seen this until a week or so back. Kinda embarassed how many times I've played it now.
