Yea, my boss has a softball team that runs an ice cream stand throughout the weekend and she has asked me the last 2 years (she has only been my boss for the last 2 years) if I was interested in working. You work one shift and in exchange you get a vendor bracelet that gets you in for the entire weekend!

Last year, I was meh about Pearl Jam and Metallica and I wasn't going to stay up until 2 in the morning to see Sigur Ros so I really didn't get into it last year (about the only band I remembered hearing was Mastodon and I was working at the time).

However, this year was completely different due to Springsteen and Wilco performing on Saturday. I told her to put me down to work on Friday at any time - just as long as I could come Saturday and watch 2 of my favorite artists without having to work. Friday was a long day and I heard the following:

Gomez (they were pretty damn good)
Animal Collective (OK but not really impressed)
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs (they were very good as well - reminded me a lot of Interpol but with a girl lead singer)
TV on the Radio (also OK but not really impressed)

I wasn't working in the main stage area - I was in the Centeroo near the "Which" stage. (I think that is right or is "Which" in the main stage? Bah, who knows). Unfortunately, Al Green was performing Friday at the main stage and I heard he was great. As I was leaving, the Beastie Boys were on the main stage. Would have loved to seen them and did hear about 4 songs but I was unable to get a good spot to really see them so I left.

Then on Saturday, I saw Wilco, Springsteen, and Nine Inch Nails. Wilco absolutely killed better than the other time I saw them which was on St. Patty's Day in 2006. They played all the songs I wanted them to play including "Impossible Germany", "Spiders", and "Shot in the Arm" among others. Springsteen was also excellent and went through 28 songs in 3 hours - hard to imagine a 60 year old man performing for 3 hours!  NIN was the big disappointment - my brother-in-law and me left before his set was even over. Hate to say it but it looks like the end is near for Trent (sorry Harrisment :( ).

All in all it was a great day (one of the best in my life!) and I can't wait to see who is playing next year. You have gone to Bonnaroo in the past, haven't you?
