Now that was sweet right there. Bittersweet because the Raconteurs aren't together right now. The mandolin is the most under rated instrument in music ie. Led Zep

I am in San Diego now seeing the Church tonite and made sure to bring some Steely Dan to listen to, perfect Socal music.
Listening to this new Dirty Projectors album. I saw them open for TV on the Radio last night and was thoroughly impressed.

That album is amazingly good. After many listens, I think I still prefer 'Rise Above'. Can't go wrong either way, though. Got my ticket to go see them in Austin next month. Can't wait.

For the first 6 months I heard of this "supergroup" I thought it was surely a joke. Then someone told me they were actually playing at SXSW. I thought they were really taking the joke to an extreme, but then I slowly came to the realization this might be a real band. I still hold some hope out thinking some will come up and say we have all been Punk'd.
Yea, it's funny how it seems many people don't know about them but they have had a lot of influence on post-rock bands, post-punk bands and Radiohead among others. "Soon Over Babaluma", IMO, was their last truly great album (I have the next 2 after that but they are somewhat mediocre). They weren't really the same after Damo Suzuki left them to be a Jehovah's Witness. I'm going to eventually buy "Trout Mask Replica" and "Hot Rats" and maybe even some stuff by The Residents (although most of their stuff is out of print/way over priced). I'm going to work Bonnarroo today and tomorrow I'll be there to see Wilco and Springsteen! I'm so excited about seeing those 2 acts!
