    Really great piece of work with Sufjan returning to his folk roots. A lot of the songs are very intense and sad.

    The back story on the album is interesting in that Carrie and Lowell are his mom and stepfather. Sufjan sings a lot about his mom's battle with mental illness and the effect of her passing on him even though he barely knew her.
