Glad to hear you're doing okay Manny! Been finishing up listening to some 2013 albums. Sky Ferreira, Haim, Mudhoney, Majical Cloudz I don't think I saw a favorite albums of 2013 thread. I'll have to create one in a few days if everyone else is gonna be lazy about it.
They don't sound like your cup of tea, but there's a band getting some XM play named Wild Feathers. I mentioned them earlier. The lead singer graduated in 2000.

Well, it was my favorite album of 2013. So I like them quite a bit. Just a glorious sounding album with a modern twist on synthpop. The genre has been pretty weak for a while now. The last great synthpop album I can remember is Very by the Pet Shop Boys (1993). Pretty cool. Not really my sweet spot, but I do appreciate country music that avoids being overly campy or leans too far adult contemp. Definitely seem like they have some genuine talent. I saw they played Conan too. Spoiler <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/tPkGcKckjao" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
New bands in my rotation. Woods (from Brooklyn) Kevin Morby (from the band Woods) Bill Callahan's 2013 album Grouper (from Portland, and super spooky) You are Plural (also Portland; they tour, please see them live, amazing) EDIT: Oh! And from the mighty state of Texas, True Widow. Heavy and wonderful.
Yeah, I had no idea when I was at their show in Austin back in October. I just happened to be standing by the family/band/manager while The Lone Bellow played and then struck up a conversation with them. Within about five minutes his mom's telling me how they live in West Memorial and Ricky Young went to Katy High School. Small world.

Majical Cloudz album was great. It was in my top ten. I got to see them live on tour last year and it was a really intense experience. This track "Savage" wasn't on the album but definitely should have been. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/SYmLFBxigm8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Well?? Are you going to do this thread - really interested to see what you would list? I was somewhat disappointed by 2013, if you want to know the truth about it.
can't get enough of courtney barnett's "avant gardener" track wavves has also been in constant rotation lately
