For me, it is always great to discover a band that you have never heard of before, and then find out they have been recording for a decade or more and have a whole catalog of music to listen to. About 10 years ago I found out about the Frames and was able to see them in town a couple of times at smaller venues (before the movie Once was released). Now, I have recently found out about Biffy Clyro, who is huge in Europe. They are playing arena shows over there, but I doubt they would fill a 1000 person club here. I'm hoping they will come over soon, but I'm not sure where they would play (most likely a festival, but I'd love to see them in a club). They were here in 2011 and played a club that usually has crowds of around 200 people.

REM's green just got reissued/remastered with a 2nd disk containing an entire show from 1989. i had not listened to this album in years and i am really enjoying it. (80's) REM is one of my all-time favorite bands...life's rich pageant is one of my all-time favorite records and i still listen to murmur and document, but green is not a record i ever go back to. but its really a good one from start to finish. this album came out when i was in 8th grade and was my first exposure to the band. i listened to the s*** out of it so revisiting brought back alot of memories. and the live show is great - band sounds amazing and the recording quality is top-notch. pitchfork gave it an 8.4, but i would probably have to give it an 8.9327.
love Gustavo Santaolalla, one of Defino's compatriots. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Zh2GgCFR2dw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "De Usuahia a la Quiaca" ... from his 1998 album, Ronroco ..... also used in the movie, Motorcycle Diaries (2004) his latest work: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/e_oX3n8yBWg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Spoiler The Last Of Us (OST), 2013 1. Skinny Puppy-Weapon The thing I probably appreciate the most about this band, is they have been pumping out music for 30 years now. Always done it their way and never sold out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUCatOT1D-Q&feature=youtube_gdata_player
The Foxygen album snuck up on me and locked itself in as one of my favorites of the year. Kind of Lou-Reed-ish. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/87jIdvGPDj4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Spoiler <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/KtdWGGpvY1s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Spoiler <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QPmAO4xpQcE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Working with Hk/Buddha on the Moon again on a covers project with songs from Caravan and Elliot Smith next, this is an Ultra Vivid Scene song called Staring at the Sun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2MTaeRWh0Yo
love foxygen... their first album is fantastic. think i mentioned em several pages back. listening to cory morrow right now.... that's right. texas time travelin' is a fantastic example of modern texas country. plus the nostalgia factor is great - can't help but think back to high school when we wore this album out.
