Sean Costello I can't believe I've never heard of him until now. It's too bad he had passed away, he was so talented.

I recently bought a Blu-ray player for my HDTV and 5.1 sound system, so I've been picking up a few things. I discovered early on that the HD sound is incredible, which led me to the BR version of Led Zep's The Song Remains the Same, completely remastered in HD 5.1 sound and tinkered with by the band, those remaining. Madison Square Garden, 1973. Mind-blowing sound, fantastic quality. Totally groovy. If you haven't heard/seen this with a Blu-ray player on an HDTV with a good surround system , you've gotta do it. This is the finest quality concert sound and footage I've seen from that period, and it captures what a live concert sounded like brilliantly. That it's Led Zeppelin is icing on the cake.
Excellent, excellent DVD. I would also recommend: Gimme Shelter (Stones) The Kids Are Alright (Who) The Wall (Floyd)
Some more Jason Mraz. One of the most talented artist I've ever heard. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7l74d1fmZbw&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7l74d1fmZbw&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_Ct4LE45oy8&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_Ct4LE45oy8&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PVcyL7CKxSo&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PVcyL7CKxSo&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Your embeded music thingy is preventing me from getting past your post in this thread, basso. Could you edit that? I won't be able to read this post or see your reply unless you do. edit: guess you fixed it, basso. Thanks!
Those are all Blu-ray? Great! I'll pick them up. The HD sound quality rocks. That's the primo way to listen to music. There's no doubt about it. It was like a trip back in time watching Led Zep that way. Like I said in my original post, it's so difficult, almost impossible, to find recordings of concerts from back then that do justice to what the actual concert sound (and performance) was like... sitting there close to the front, where I always ended up, whether I had those seats or not, or just good, decent seats. People listening to the vast majority of live recordings from the late '60's through the '70's probably think we suffered through crappy sound. Not at all. The sound was usually great, even in clubs. The really big groups had the finest equipment and you heard every bit of it. Thanks the the tip!
Foiled - Blue October.... I started a thread on them, and I was surprised by the responses. People say they're douchebag rock, or whatever. The people that say that, though, I'm pretty sure have only heard "Calling You" and maybe one or two other radio songs. This CD, though, is one of the best I've heard in a while. The lyrics are great, singing is great, music is great. The live version is even great. I'm also listening to No Deliverance by the Toadies.
No, sorry, I just meant that those concert DVDs were great. I'm really not that enamored with getting the most crystal-clear picture or sound- some of my favorite bands sound better on LP than CD (Rolling Stones, Ramones), and some of my favorite movies are more of the grainy, obscure look (McCabe and Mrs. Miller, Taxi Driver). I would think that The Wall would be on BluRay, probably not the others.
