I don't know what they sing. They seem to be in it for the music.

I don't know why you would think I have a strong dislike for Mumford and Sons. Now, with that being said, I couldn't tell you one song that they sing because I don't listen to their music. :p

    Sigur Ros - Valtari
    My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

I forgot how great "Loveless" is until I listened to it again, especially the song "I Only Said".

For me it's the song "Sometimes." It just gets me every single time.

If I want this CD (I don't do digital downloads) it will cost me $22 plus shipping (the total is around $30). Admittedly, I'm a pretty cheap guy, but that seems ridiculously expensive. I think I've been priced out of the MBV market.

I can't pick between "Sometimes" and "I Only Said" each is like a complete vat of sweet, sweet earhole ambrosia.

    here ya go win:

this is definately a my bloody valentine record. MBV doesn't venture from their formula but it is a progression of their style. they have always been masters at riding the line between ambient and penetrating, taking turns working on both echoic and iconic memory. where loveless is rightly lauded for its lovely waves of guitar cacophony, MBV takes this further, it is a sparser due to the fact that everything sounds more purposeful. this is a more minimal album and accomplishes an unexpected trick of having the seemingly ambient/droney bits more iconic than the songs that have a more traditional pop structure. i've always felt they were a band better listened to through their albums (in their entirety) rather than via singles, the case is no different here. on first listen i was reading. i prefer to give a casual audition to new records. i couldn't read a damn thing, it got right to me. however, starting with "is this a yes" through "new you" the album loses me. these songs seem out of place and too pop for such an otherwise focused effort. i do, however, like the switch to the percussive chaos of the final songs. it feels like a slow motion, looped version of kevin shields smashing his guitar. it is both beautiful and ferocious. take out three songs and this is a nearly perfect album, one that seems to offer the possibilities of escape but never stops insinuating itself into you. bravo
