Ken Nordine - Word Jazz Animal Collective - Feels Bjork - Debut Feels was always a distant third for me in the AnCo discography but that has changed. It is tied for first with Merriweather and Strawberry Jam as my favorite album by them (Sung Tongs is pretty damn good, too). IMO, AnCo's last 4 studio albums have been more consistent than what Radiohead's last 4 studio albums were...*ducks and runs for cover*
I am inclinded to agree, even though I'm not a huge fan of Sung Tongs. Feels-SJ-MPP stacks up well against Radiohead's last 3 and it wouldn't even be much of a contest if it weren't for In Rainbows being so beastly. Anyway, good to see you have recognized the greatness of Feels now. After only a couple weeks of getting into AC, I told my girlfriend that they had the potential to be the next Radiohead, or even better. She, being a huge Radiohead fan scoffed at the notion. If Animal Collective's next album is on par with their last 3... I think they will have cemented themselves as the greatest band of the past 5 years.
Agree completely. I will say that Radiohead's run of The Bends/OK Computer/Kid A is the greatest 3 album run in the modern age, IMO. I am going to see what each studio album by both Radiohead and AnCo have gotten on Pitchfork...let them decide who is greater, lol.
Wow, where do you get so much music from? You're library must be huge!!! But hey, let music brighten your life.
Some of my recent favorited albums: Brand New - Deja Entendu Dredg - El Cielo Darkest Hour - Deliver Us
Chino Moreno's (Deftones) newest project: Crosses - EP † <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/XJLdiRWKG5E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Anything by the Stone Roses!! It's offical, they are back! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-15348374
James Blake I figured I would like it, and just now got around to giving it fair time. the autotune sound is a bit much at times, for me, but otherwise I'm liking it. I must be missing something, then. I've given AnCo a few listens trying to find something that was good enough to be accessible and accessible enough to be found good, and must just not be hitting the sweet spot. I can tell it's in there, but haven't found anything I heard yet that makes me have that "yeah, listen to that" feeling.
After further review, Hurry Up is still not as great for me as everyone is saying. The fact that only half of it is good keeps me from saying it is great. He should have kept it as a single album.
Merriweather Post Pavilion is their most accessible record I'd say. Give it a few spins after a few tasty rips and it is orgasmic. The first time I heard "My Girls" I was just like "**** this is good".
