I thought about starting a thread on this...but don't feel like it. been listening to a lot of Nu-metal bands that had really disappointing sophmore albums. Limp Bizkit - say what you want but 3 dollar bill ya'll was effin great. Hed PE. Staind - Dysfunction was really good, but their EP was teh awesome. Nothing like Break The Cycle P.O.D. - probably the most disappointing. The Fundemental Elements of Southtown was one of my favorite albums back then. Adema - good debut. suckfest after. Crazytown - lol. Non-Point. Will Haven. Mudvayne.
Okay, I am hitting up blues, dub, jazz, heavy metal amongst others: Augustus Pablo with King Tubby - King Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss Howlin' Wolf - Howlin' Wolf (The Rocking Chair Album) Horace Silver - Song for my Father
lol. I make no attempts to disguise my deep rooted love for nu-metal. Nu-metal was a perfect outlet for apprehensive white kids from the burbs to be 'hardcore' without really being hardcore. I soaked that ish up. That and I just really like the music. There was a 3-4 year span (1995-1999) where there was just tons of really good nu-metal being pumped out... Staind's debut EP Tormented....(this version of staind was areshum) Spoiler <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/lRg-xhYKSvQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> and POD's major label debut was one of the better albums of that era... Spoiler <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/8EpGqa64aUA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> even Limp Bizkit was awesome back then... Spoiler <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0N3W1AyzDNI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Even my beloved Deftones...for as much as they tried to distance themselves from the nu-metal label....they def were nu-metal for awhile... <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qLvLcioo86Y" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vYDYpiVTJqU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> and cmon, everybody loves some Will Haven... Spoiler <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/R9isCTqcfOw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Glassjaw...how could you not like this? Spoiler <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/gxxjktq482U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Then along came the p*****s like Cold, Papa Roach, Adema, Finger Eleven, Static X, Linkin Park and Taproot with watered down riffs and PG lyrics. By this time the heavy weights like KoRn, Staind, Limp Bizkit and System of a Down had already entered full b**** mode and sold the f out...MTV and FM radio was being taken over by Nickelback, Incubus, Three Days Grace, Seether...and that is when I started to rapidly lose interest... I still like listening to it for nostalgia...and who knows...everything is better when youre a teenager..but that was some good music...good times.
I dug these guys too: <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/uvQMPagkFPA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I think Alien Ant Farm covering Michael Jackson marked the end of the genre. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CDl9ZMfj6aE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Prong - Cleansing Muddy Waters - Fathers and Sons Sun Ra - Lanquidity Sly and the Family Stone - Stand!
Haha, I like me some extreme metal from time to time with groups like Pantera, Sepultura, Slayer, etc. I can't remember where I heard of Prong from but highly underrated band in my opinion. On Amazon, their music editor said that "Cleansing" sounded like a second rate version of "Kill 'Em All" by Metallica. "Cleansing" sounds nothing like that album.
You know what, you deserve something. Go out and buy yourself a big pack of chips ahoy cookies and a gallon of milk. You deserve it sir.
