Pitchfork only loves them because they don't understand what the hell is going on either, but they like it.
Manic Street Preachers - Postcards From a Young Man Atlas Sound - Logos moes, You have probably already heard of Atlas Sound but if not that is Bradford Cox's (lead singer of Deerhunter) side project. Pretty good stuff if you like Deerhunter. "Logos" actually has Noah Lennox on track #3. Manic Street Preachers are the greatest band that no one in the US knows about.
atlas sound put out 4 albums worth of home recordings last month for free. you can download here... http://deerhuntertheband.blogspot.com/ some cool stuff if you sift through it - not all great, but i do respect the dudes prolific-ness.
I saw Bradford Cox play as Atlas Sound at Emo's at SXSW back in 2008. He was wearing a dress on stage. Great show! I actually prefer Atlas Sound over Deerhunter in a lot of ways.
is this 1989? sayCet is the greatest band that no one in the US knows about. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/o5ACT-HJI0U?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/o5ACT-HJI0U?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KpYS0guKFMc?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KpYS0guKFMc?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
PJ Harvey - Uh Huh Her Mercury Rev - Deserter's Songs The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
Thought I would mention that since you like the FL and Animal Collective, you should like Mercury Rev. They were an influence on Animal Collective and their lead singer (well he wasn't their original lead singer but became it), played on 2 Flaming Lips albums.
Was mistaken on the Panda Bear CD - actually listened to Young Prayer. Also, Sigur Ros - Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust

An Allman Brothers Band playlist that in reality is their greatest hits album Deerhunter - Deerhunter aka Turn It Up f***** Weezer - Pinkerton Nick Drake - Pink Moon
What would be even kewler is if you listen to Daniel Johnston, Mercury Rev, The Residents, and Sun City Girls all at the SAME time!
