The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell is probably my favorite FL song ever.
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound My all-time favorite Genesis album, by far. This is classic progressive rock right here, folks. And as much as I love Genesis (both the Gabriel and Collins led versions), two things that always bothered me about them: 1) There have been many times that I'll listen to a song by them and wonder where is Steve Hackett? I understand that Tony Banks and his keyboards are the primary instrument but Hackett was a pretty good player so I don't blame him for leaving to go on his own. It seemed like they always kept the guitar low in the mix. 2) Phil Collins said awhile back that he never really cared for Pink Floyd , but I think he was just saying he doesn't care for progressive rock in general (go figure since he was the drummer and later drummer/vocalist in one of the biggest progressive rock bands out there). His first love has always been motown/R&B.
Wolf Parade - Expo 86, and the actual song at this moment is Cloud Shadow On The Mountain. In the same mix I have some Captain - Sensible Mad Cows and Englishman Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians - Globe of Frogs, - Queen Elvis The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow Built To Spill - There Is No Enemy Some random songs from Los Lobos, The Big Pink, Belle and Sebastian, and They Might Be Giants

The Band - The Band aka The Brown Album Roxy Music - Country Life Plus a playlist that has 5 songs apiece from Southern rock bands like The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, .38 Special, Blackfoot, Marshall Tucker Band, and 3 others.
I just purchased a mandolin and I'm looking for rock songs that use one- the obvious ones as Mandolin Wind and Maggie May from Rod Stewart, Battle of Evermore from Led Zeppelin, and You Are Everything from REM (off the Green album). Any others? Didn't The Goo Goo Dolls have one? (I can probably look it up on Google). Oh, and Yes with Wonderous Stories. I'm also trying to find rock songs that used a ukulele, and the only thing I can remember is a song from Queen- and I can't remember what the hell the name of it is.
There is a band that I've heard recently called Weed Diamond. They are excellent. They are from Colorado. They are unsigned so I've been listening to them on their myspace site, and youtube. I wish I could get a hold of their music. I've also been listening to Frankie Rose's latest band. I liked Vivian Girls, and like her new work as well.
