Haven't listened to much hip-hop lately, but Big Boi's Shutterbug is killing it. Non-stop looped for the past 2 days.
Hip Hop in its most rawest form: <object classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="323" height="180"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.dubcnn.com/swf/mp3playerDub.swf?id=2010/april/game-400_bars-(dubcnn).mp3&artwork=game-player.jpg&auto=1" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <embed src="http://www.dubcnn.com/swf/mp3playerDub.swf?id=2010/april/game-400_bars-(dubcnn).mp3&artwork=game-player.jpg&auto=1" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="323" height="180"></embed> </object>
Torn n Frayed, I just ordered "Priest = Aura" as I went by your recommendation that it is the best Church album. It should be here sometime next week maybe even as early as Monday.
Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance The Fall - The Wonderful and Frightening World of the Fall Siouxsie and the Banshees - A Kiss in the Dreamhouse
Elton John - Peachtree Road and Songs from the West Coast Both compare favorable to his early 70s material.
Listening to this show, "Sunrise Earth", on DHDTV in my office every morning for the last few weeks...episodes of sunrises all over the world: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Q_twAFSLimk&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Q_twAFSLimk&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
The the new Meatloaf album. I checked it out of curiousity and it may be his hardest rocking cd in the catalog. It doesn't let up the entire listen. One song is called "California ain't big enough" and something about a 62 year old man singing "I can barely fit my d**k in my pants" just stands out.... Meatloaf - Hang Cool Teddy Bear
Das Racist - Just got turned-on to these guys. I like. You might. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hdWxo3e3Kzk&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hdWxo3e3Kzk&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Jay Electronica Joe Budden Game's new "400 Bars"...20 minutes long!!! Smashing Pumpkins Old School Bush....Gavin Rossdale has some lungs.
Found all 3 Buffalo Springfield CDs in the $7.99 bin at Barnes N Noble- how weird is that? Buffalo Springfield Again Last Time Around What an underrated, short-lived band.
While I am waiting on The Church's "Priest = Aura" to come, I had a little money that I wasn't expecting, so I bought "Untitled 23" today (the mp3 version of the album). I am speechless on how good this album is. I was thinking to myself that I don't know of many bands that have been around that long and have released that many albums (only The Fall and The Rolling Stones come to mind), not 12 to 14, but over 20 albums. And unlike The Rolling Stones or The Fall, where their later albums are really substandard or not to the level of earlier works, you can't say this about The Church. This band is one that continues to get better and better with age. So, I spun "Heyday" again (still like it a little more than "Starfish", sorry T n F about that but I do agree it is a little dated) and now I am listening to Untitled 23 again. Hell, I might listen to it again for a 3rd time before going to bed tonight. So if "Priest=Aura" is even better than "Untitled 23", then I am going to be in for a real listening experience. But out of all the albums I have gotten in the last 6 months, the 5 best are as follows (in no particular order): "This Nation's Saving Grace" - The Fall "Untitled 23" - The Church "Second Edition" - Public Image Ltd "The Modern Dance" - Pere Ubu "Lick My Decals Off, Baby" - Captain Beefheart This is saying something because I have also gotten stuff by Nick Cave, Sun Ra, Frank Zappa, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Scott Walker, Pale Saints, and Liars amongst others and all of those albums were great as well but they can't crack the 5 that I listed above.
