NO!!!!! Thankfully the Big Pink show isn't until april 8th. See you there? Tonight (Thurs 03/04) was the first Glassjaw show in Texas in god knows how long, and perhaps the last for the foreseeable future. The singer Daryl Palumbo, while insanely dynamic, ambitious, and creatively incomparable, has Crohn's Disease and this greatly affects their ability to perform and tour. The show was absolutely incredible. There were really no other clutchfans at this show?? -------------------- (and in keeping with the obligations of the thread)
Girls Against Boys - House of GVSB This was high school staple for me. One of the most bad-ass albums ever!

Calling Harrisment: I think we have the same taste and I want to know if you know any more bands that I don't know of. I want music similar to MGMT, Yeasayer, a bit like Gorillaz. New Wave is my thing and I think you like that stuff as well. hope you can help. thanks
New Wave - can't go wrong with the last 2 Japan albums - "Gentlemen Take Polaroids" and "Tin Drum" - the last one especially is otherworldly. Also, look into Ultravox, especially the Midge Ure era. This would include the albums, "Vienna", "Rage in Eden", "Quartet", and "Lament".
Spudman and the Tater Boys - Baked or Fried Sploogebaiters - In Your Ear Anthropomorphs - Considerate Peons Bassmatica - All This and More Bombsquad Boyz - Splattered Spazmatic Reaction - Don't Forget Your Meds
Check out Friendly Fires. Their self titled debut came out in 2008 and is great from beginning to end. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GyA8zfouG4Y&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GyA8zfouG4Y&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> Have you ever listened to Of Montreal? Their music is somewhat similar to MGMT, though I think a lot better. A little more flamboyant . If you can handle that, every single one of their albums are great. This is from their latest, Skeletal Lamping. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xpYQioEnfDQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xpYQioEnfDQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> Deerhunter is another favorite of mine. Check out the album Microcastle. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/T1JHdSBibO8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/T1JHdSBibO8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> And hopefully you've listened to LCD Soundsystem by now. But if not, you should do that immediately. Sound of Silver is a classic album. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/i2V_ZT-nyOs&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/i2V_ZT-nyOs&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> I could go on with this for a while. Let me know what you think of these, and I can post some more suggestions if you want.
I have a cool story about Bradford. Back in 2008, I was shopping at Strand Books (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strand_Bookstore) near the NYU area in NYC. Around closing time I was just reading some history book in the upstairs area, when I see this kinda tall person walk past me with blaring headphones on. I mean it was really loud, that I could hear what he was listening to. I do a double take, and realize its Bradford Cox of Deerhunter. I'm not a super fan or anything of his work, but I'm familiar with his band. So I hang around for a while trying to figure out what to say to him since he's an indie rock God. I suddenly got a phone call, and went outside to answer it. Its about 10 minutes later, when I realize Bradford is finished at the bookstore, and he is walking past me. He looks at me and says nice shoes. (I was wearing these old school Reebok hightops). Then I'm like "You're Bradford from Atlas Sound, eh." He laughs and goes yea, "but most people know me from my other band" I ask him what he is doing in the city since I knew there wasn't a Deerhunter show on that day. He says they just announced a secret show the previous day at Mercury Lounge. He then goes, "if you want to attend, I can get you in, b/c I think its now sold out." I was like "dude, I really would like to but I have to attend the Hercules and Love Affair show at Irving Plaza in about one hour." Then he was like yea, "If I had to go to one show, I would go see them b/c they rarely tour." Then he left. He was buying some used comic books. Anyways, he was one of the sweetest and nicest persons I've met.
I flew to LA to visit a friend/see Atlas Sound/Broadcast last fall because I'm a huge fan of both. I adore Bradford. My heart started fluttering when he walked by... ~swoon~ I recorded Bradford and Trish (from Broadcast) w/ The Selmanaires performing Walkabout together on my Elph (the quality isn't the greatest, obviously). I was in heaven. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/LpPfDZn-HFE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/LpPfDZn-HFE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
