Figured I'd jump in here and join the love fest for my favorite band in the world, Radiohead. Agree with the comment that everything since The Bends has been pure gold. I've loved everything since then, with Hail to the Thief being my least favorite but still a kick ass album. If I was ranking my all time favorite albums by any artists, Ok Computer, The Bends, and Kid A would all be in the top 5.

When you've listened to an album over a thousand times and it can still give you chills when a certain lyric or rhythm speaks to exactly where you are in life at that moment, that's what good music is all about. That still happens to me with Radiohead nearly every time. :)

    Landlord,

You've gotta send me a playlist. I like this stuff a lot. It is great for me to listen to during my planning time.

I feel like I should like The Big Pink album a lot... but I still haven't warmed up to it. I really dislike the 'Dominos' song--I feel like it's something I'd hear shopping at the mall. Idunno, they just feel like a poor man's version of a lot of music I really like. I'm going to see them in April, but 100% because of APTBS. I've seen APTBS nearly half a dozen times and their live show never disappoints.

This Morning Benders album is pretty nice after the first couple of listens (Big Echo). It's Grizzly Bear-produced. Pretty solid debut.

Been listening to Charlotte Gainsbourg's IRM a lot lately.

    Beach House - Teen Dream

It has a much bigger sound than I was expecting. I like it so far.

Yeah, I never was able to get into it either. There would be a decent groove on many of the songs, but that would basically be it. The album is completely devoid of melody. And then there's the Karen O animal sounds song which makes me cringe.

thats all it is for me too. a collection of plodding grooves and noodling jams. no memorable melodies or hooks to grab onto.

i didnt know karen o was on there. have you heard their dark side of the moon album? peaches does the vocal part on great gig in the sky - one of the best vocal takes ive heard in years - she destroys!

    Dub Housing - Pere Ubu
    Spillane - John Zorn
    Angel's Egg - Gong

Pere Ubu along with Captain Beefheart and Sun Ra are one of my absolute favorites of what I call the "experimental 15". I hadn't really felt the love for "Dub Housing" compared to "The Modern Dance" or even "New Picnic Time" but after listening to it again last night, this album is amazing. If you love Beefheart, early Roxy Music, Can, and early PIL, you will absolutely love Pere Ubu.

I always just thought of you as "post-rock guy." Now you're "post-rock, alternative metal guy." :p

no, I am married to post rock. Alternative metal is just my filthy side w**** I like to bang from time to time.

I really don't like current alternative metal. But from about 1996-2004 or so, I really loved it. And yea, I still like Limp Bizkit's 3 dollar bill ya'll.

    OK Computer - Radiohead
Isn't Anything - My Bloody Valentine
Here Comes the Indian - Animal Collective

I have really tried to get into Animal Collective but it has been very rough sledding which is surprising to me since I enjoy artists like Captain Beefheart, Pere Ubu, Sun Ra, Residents, etc. I probably just need to listen to each one of their albums 5 times in a row.

You are not alone. Animal Collective is way overrated by some people IMO.

I love AnCo (legitimately, not just drinking the Kool-aid). Have you tried the Fall Be Kind EP that was released not too long ago? "On a Highway" is such a great song.
