Yea, XTC is brilliant. Even though I don't think that anything tops Skylarking, you might like Drums and Wires, DC. It is often considered one of their greatest and maybe their first truly great album. "..XYZ" - Moose "Change" - The Dismemberment Plan "The Correct Use of Soap" - Magazine "Solid Gold" - Gang of Four
Yeah, the album has a pretty good mix of influences and the sound varies from song to song making it pretty difficult to pigeon hole them. I'd even say there's a few portions on the album that sound like they're channeling Cheap Trick. The chorus for "Swim" is just about as arena-rock as you can get.

A new group from Florida I was just introduced to a week ago that just released it's first album. Astro Coast by Surfer Blood Think Cali surf rock on steroids! Very Cool. You can listen to a few tracks from the album here "Swim" is the first "single" off the record

Thanks - just got Suicide's hard to find 3rd album, "A Way of Life" as a download off Amazon for only 7.99. "A Strangely Isolated Place" - Ulrich Schnauss "Campfire Songs" - Animal Collective "Oracular Spectacular" - MGMT "A Way of Life" - Suicide
BTW, I was doing some reading on the net about Ulrich Schnauss and came across this gem of an article...enjoy: http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdai...le-from-ulrich-schnauss-on-chinese-democracy/
been listening to a bunch of tom petty and then that first traveling wilburys album - ive got the tom petty documentary "runnin' down a dream" coming tomorrow via netflix. its 259 minutes (4.5 hours), but everyone i know who has seen it now thinks tom petty is jesus, so it must be pretty good. and tom petty's stuff is good, but its no big mountain fudgecake!
so long sigur ros. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/jan/28/sigur-ros-indefinite-hiatus I guess sigur ros really is gay. (pun fully intended)
That's not good - oh well, maybe in 3 years or less they'll get back together. Too many other artists out there, though, that I'll have to pick up their latest album. I have been loving some classic post-punk as well as the revival of it and damn, if Editors does not sound like Interpol, then I don't know who does!
Oh well, the Jonsi solo album comes out in March. The first track I heard pretty much sounds like a Sigur Ros song.
Have a ton of work this day so I started off with something for the background: Mike Smith -Sinatra Songbook -The Traveler -Unit 7 -On a Cool Night (great album...title says it all) Normally I'm a rock&roller of the 60s/70s, but since picking up the guitar again, I'm going back to my blues roots with an ear on jazz theory & play. Now I just got to figure out a way to play Louie Louie with a lot of 7ths! -
Yea, that is a must buy album. Songs of the Free - Gang of Four Pink Flag - Wire Escape From Noise - Negativland
