They are alright but Aphex Twin, Autechre, and Boards of Canada have already done what Mum is doing, IMO but have done it better.

Surfer Blood - Astro Coast Probably one of the best pure guitar rock records I've heard in quite a while, well with the exception of the Dinosaur Jr comeback albums. Pretty catchy and hook-filled with lots of loud guitar. Here's their song "Swim" on YouTube Spoiler <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ePacT9j00G0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ePacT9j00G0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> I also just got XTC's Go 2 album. Haven't listened to it yet, but wanted to point out that it is the best album cover ever. Spoiler

WEAKLING CUT THEIR GRAIN AND PLACE FIRE THEREIN <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NYBwVQRa21Q&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NYBwVQRa21Q&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
xtc is one of my all-time favorite bands. do you have any of their other stuff? from that early era (pre-1980) i love black sea. english settlement, skylarking and apples and oranges are great too!
Yep, I've been getting all their albums after hearing Skylarking for the first time a few months ago. I have all the studio album from White Music to Nonsuch. Extremely prolific group. I haven't yet delved into all of the albums yet to determine which ones I like best. I also wanted to get their side project Dukes of Stratosphear at some point...curious how that differs from their other proper xtc albums.

This album is outstanding. Some of the tracks sound like Vampire Weekend, especially "Take it Easy" with its tribal beat. I can also hear elements of The Shins (track "Anchorage) as well as 90's alternative rock Weezer. (track "Slow Jabroni") A really good beach album. My favourite track from the album is "Harmonix."
its great - there is an album called 'chips from the chocolate fireball' that has their album + ep - its them going totally sgt. pepper-style psychedellia - the whole album was done w/ 60's equipment and instruments. definitely different than their other stuff, but you can tell its them. there are about 3 or 4 songs on there i would put up w/ the best xtc songs.
i saw them a couple of weeks ago. i was really into them before i saw them live. they really sounded awful. i'll give them a break because they are so young, but it did kind of ruin them for me. : / my favorite track by them is "floating vibes".
currently listening to think about life - family caribou - andorra (i really love this album) penguin prison - random tracks royal bangs - let it beep
