damn I believe this song was played every single basketball warmup and/or pep rally from 1986 to 1993
I feel bad that I didn't enjoy the album as much as I thought I would. Robert Smith's love with 90s shoegaze/dream pop led to some very questionable mixing choices imo. Endsong is amazing. That song will be a consistent part of my Cure diet.
I actually was really down on what I heard before the album dropped fully with the “singles” released if you want to call them that. But when I got a chance to listen to the entire album on good quality jbl ear buds doing yard work it at that point really worked for me. I actually think The Cure’s biggest weakness is when their songs over indulge. I’m thinking about the book end songs on the otherwise solid album “Wish”. This album definitely indulges a bit and sort of wallows but to me it seemed to not indulge too much to where it loses me. So I’d say I wouldn’t write it off yet and maybe come back to it when you get the chance to vibe to it.
Yeah, I might warm up to it as I listen more. Definitely not writing it off yet since it's The Cure, one of the greatest bands of 20th century.
