Are they dropping a new album? I liked "Rain" off their last one. I think Billy Corgan helped write and produce that track.
nothing at the moment, but i highly recommend sunset rubdown if you guys like arcade fire and wolfparade. its too fetch! oh by the way arcade fire's new album seems to be on its way. and apparently it features a really old church organ. anything that pretentious has to be good eh?
Yo La Tengo - I am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass Aidan Baker - The Sea Swells a Bit.... Matmos - The Rose has Teeth in the Mouth of a Beast Rapeman - Two Nuns and a Pack Mule Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped Leonard Cohen - box set This Heat - box set The Fall - Bend Sinister Wire - Chairs Missing also miscellaneous field recordings of melting glaciers, gamelan percussion, Tuvaan throat singing, etc.
I haven't thought about them in years...great band! I remember seeing them a lot when I went to school in Denton. My current music list: Lou Reed "Transformer" Funkadelic "Free Yo Ass and Yo Mind Will Follow" Super Furry Animals "Phantom Phorce"
I didn't think this thread was about bashing bands, but I will say that Arcade Fire is better than 99% of the bands mentioned here. Including the ones I listed. If you like rap or corny rock, listen to it. There's no reason to bash a good band because they are popular.
Wow, a lot of folks are listening to a lot of GREAT albums. For me: Mojave 3 - Puzzles Like You (if you like M3, you HAVE to get this album!) Neil Halstead - Sleeping on Roads Rachel Goswell - Waves are Universal The Zutons - Who Killed the Zutons? Modest Mouse - Building Nothing out of Something Seal - Seal(I) Silverchair - Diorama Guster - Ganging Up on the Sun Ben Harper - Both Sides of the Gun Bob Marley - Survival *Anxiously awaiting "The Phoenix" from Lyfe Jennings
holy **** take it easy princess. i've been praising arcade fire since their album came out on so many threads in this board alone. and even if you didnt know that, how the hell did you come to the conclusion that i was 'bashing' them with my post? the fact that i recommend sunset rubdown to those who like arcade fire shouldve said it there.
Oh my god, that had me laughing for 5 minutes straight. Come on, they're not that bad...it's definitely a weird, eclectic style of music (especially on I Am A Runner), but I'll Believe In Anything has had moderate success on the college rock airwaves. Personally I love the music of Wolf Parade, Arcade Fire, Sunset Rubdown, Animal Collective, Architecture In Helsinki, Of Montreal, Broken Social Scene and the like...but I can't talk about indie music anymore with large groups because it annoys the hell out of me. There's nothing worse than a half-dozen hipsters babbling about who liked The Go! Team before their first appearance at South By Southwest or who has the advanced copy of the new Stephen Malkmus album. Sometimes the music subculture is ridiculous.
Santana - Sacred Fire (Live in South America) I watched their Woodstock performance again on VH1 Classic last night. Oh. My. God.
You've got to be kidding me. If your post wasn't supposed to come off as sarcastic it definitely fooled me. You even said fetch. Whatever, you are right about Sunset Rubdown.
I've been a fan of Bloc Part for a couple of months, but after watching them in concert on Wednesday my obsession for them has only increased. They are pretty unique and have kind of a retro sound about them, and not to forget that they were one of the best live acts that I have ever seen.
I was at that concert too. I was surprised to see it sold out. Must have been their positive showing at the ACL Festival last year. Lead singer Kele, seems like a really nice guy. I've been listening to their stuff again in the gym after about a year of not listening to them on heavy rotation. Its really good stuff still.
