Manny, David Gray has often cited Van as a major influence, and there's a track on White Ladder that includes a quote from "Into the Mystic". Check out this live show as well free, legal, great performance, and if you download the FLAC version, studio quality sound.
Sounds good- I live in Lubbock now but the fam all still live in Houston in the FM 1960 area- we'll probably be down in March during Spring Break, so I'll contact you then. You need- you have to- get The Wild, The Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle. I'm telling you, everyone I recommended this album to has said it's great. I defy anyone to listen to "New York City Serenade" and not be moved. Or "Incident on 57th Street." I can't say enough about this recording.
Thanks basso. Hehe, I was just joking about the "hanging out" (although it would be great to do) as I live in TN and don't plan on coming to Texas anytime soon unless it is job-related. I don't doubt you on the Springsteen album as all of his first couple of albums are great. I just don't have the cash to spend on them, especially considering I'm using what cash I have to get more Van and Joni Mitchell.
Yeah, I have this tendency to assume most of the people on this board live in H-Town. If you want to get the complete collections for those two, you probably want to set your sights on just a certain decade, as Van has about 25 studio albums and Joni has 20, I think.
