Anyone see the "We Will Rock You" show? I saw it in London and I think its on Broadway now....I'm not even a big Queen fan but it was very enjoyable.

Although I do enjoy making fun of bands that pull this kind of thing, I can understand where they're coming from. They wrote songs that are loved to this day and they're not allowed to play them or tour because of someone's untimely death? Hell, it's been decades since Mercury died.

There's a demand to hear these songs be played and the musicians obviously want to get back out there and perform them. Can't blame them.

Doesn't mean it won't be eight kinds of lame, though.

There is no replacement for Mercury and i will not care one bit about their tour, music, or anything else. His voice and music is something that can't be replaced....

    Total BS in my opinion

That's actually a very good point. Never really thought about it that way.

It's their music, not ours. They can do whatever the hell they want.

The songs are loved in large part b/c of who sang them though. I would argue that it's the performances more than the songs that people love ... I mean this is the reason tribute bands exist. As long as they're not calling it QUEEN though, I don't care.

Speaking of Queen, I thought George Michael did a good job covering their songs for the Freddie Mercury tribute concert a while back. Yeah, I know his career is in the toilet um so to speak, but he has a great voice (can hit all of Freddie Mercury's high notes and then some), and I would think he would be a better replacement as the front man for Queen (in more ways than one).

Well, of course Freddie Mercury was a big part of Queen. I doubt Brian May would deny that. But that doesn't mean he never wants to play those songs in public again or that there aren't people out there who'd like to see him play those songs. For them, this is a great opportunity.

For those who aren't interested, don't buy a ticket.

Again, I don't even like Queen and I generally think these kinds of tours are lame. I can just see why the band might want to do it and why some fans might want to buy a ticket.

    My sentiments exactly.

Just like Little Feat going on without Lowell George.

It's stealing money from the wallets of people trying in vain to re-live a time in their past or a time in the past that they were too young to be a part of.

Can't keep quiet about this ...

Little Feat and the Band going out without their main cogs seems bad on the surface, but gaddamit, it's just a rock and roll band.

The Queen is dead, long live the Queen.

They aren't stealing from anyone. There isn't a Queen fan alive that isn't aware Freddy Mercury is worm poop. No one's being fooled into thinking he's going to be on this tour. Believe it or not, some people would like to see May and uh... the other guy (Rodgers?) play Queen songs even if Macy Gray was singing them. If they want to check it out, by all means, I'll let them.

Man, I'm getting sick of defending Queen. Queen sucks!
