When I first heard it I was SOOO disappointed, but then I go back and listen with an open mind, and I like it more and more. Heartless is myspace song. It spoke to me.
Did anyone actually know that it was all spoken/sung/vocoder before they listened to it? Or was I just incredibly well informed? I knew what it was before I listened to it, and I really like it.
I hate the T-Pain thing...the album sucks ass. An entire album of someone singing through a computer sucks (even though some of the songs are catchy). Ugh.
First few tracks not overwhelming, but I'll give it a couple more listens before I make a judgment. However, I liked "Robocop" on the first listen. Cool song.
Great album for those who appreciate music. Bad album for those who love Kanye West's rap. I'm the former, thus I love the direction. Personally, I feel there's more passion in this album than in his previous three. It's obvious Kanye didn't know what or where to turn. So he just did something that he just felt. Reminds me of Andre 3000 with Love Below, Common's Electric Circus, or Talib Kweli's Right About Now. Album's that were just...real.
THANK YOU!! the next time someone mixes that up i'm gonna punch the closest person next to me in the jaw. Music like this is made with the vocoder/talkbox. Artist such as Roger & Zapp, Prince, and George Clinton and groups like Pink Floyd and Aerosmith have used it. Vocoder and talkbox are connected keyboards and guitars to create a different musical sound. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1KAJe7HNN44&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1KAJe7HNN44&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Music like this is made with auto-tune. Great artists such as Cher, Britney Spears, and T-pain use it. Auto-tune is a computer program mostly used by Pop artists to "automatically tune" their poor singing voices. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VV_OUs3FX_c&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VV_OUs3FX_c&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> The most important reason for pointing out the differences is that it takes no skill, creativity, or talent to use auto-tune. Basically, anyone on this board can do what T-pain does (and what Kanye is doing on this album) if they have auto-tune. I probably would have loved this album if Kanye had taken the time to learn how to use the vocoder or talk box.
i havent finished it... but kanye is my fav artist...so i'll give him the benefit of the doubt.. and wait till the album grows on me... (i lso picked up the luda cd and if ya like luda .. you'll love this one)
T-Pain and his friend would disagree. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/234v_apCQO4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/234v_apCQO4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
