I wouldn't buy the VIP tickets if I were you. Last year I bought regular tickets, and we were able to walk into the 'VIP Tent' several times throughout the day/night to cool down and purchase liquor.
$22.50 for the weekend pass (both days) according to this here website: http://www.ticketstorm.com/event/freepresssummerfest2010weekendpass/eleanortinsleypark/houston/3514/
Yeah I read about the cooler tents but I'm asking about the exclusive performances. I remember getting VIP passes at the Voodoo Festival and there being like an different part where you get cheap alcohol and they have a special area to be able to get close to the stage. Do you think it's something of that nature or just cooler tents?
Dude, this is NOWHERE close to Bonnaroo, ACL, or Voodoo Fest. The sooner you realize this, the better.
Are you joking? You don't have to tell me that it's not I'm sure of it. But with tickets being cheap and having The Flaming Lips come to Houston I'm positive it's worth going. Nothing is better then Bonnaroo guy and the sooner you realize that, the sooner you will not have to make that comment
Am I the only one who thinks Girl Talk is a terrible live act? I mean all Gillis does is get on his laptop and jump up and down after he presses play on his Winamp playlist. The only concert I've ever walked out on was when I saw Girl Talk a few years ago. It was terrible. I don't care for his mixes much either. A good mashup artist is The Hood Internet. They seem to mash their tunes really well, but it is very boring to go to a show just to see a DJ. I could see the same thing by going to the local dance club and watching the DJ in action.
I should know, I went to the first 3... For sure it's worth going. Last year was hot, muddy, and the music kinda sucked (imo, not trying to offend), but I had a blast. It's Houston, we don't get much.
You're not the only one. I saw him at Coachella last year from a distance and it looked totally lame. Not my cup of tea, but to each their own.
Girl Talk, is indeed, whack. The best mashup / live remixing artisit is, without a doubt, Keys N Krates. Not only do they remix live, but the DJ has a full band with him, too. Never seen them live but checked out some of their mashups and was not impressed The Avalanches > GirlTalk [/thread]
i was planning on checking it out before... now that rocketdancer9 is going, i will too. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=185986
Definitely going. For sure checking out Flaming Lips, Ra Ra Riot, and Stars as I love those three. Specially the Flaming Lips, their live shows look amazing and they are one of my favorite bands, they are the main reason I'm going. Will probably also check out Girl Talk as the live performances look fun. As for as others, based on suggestions and what I've heard, I'll also check out Uh Huh Her, Lucero, and Slim Thug and Bun B. There anyone else I should check out? I'm more of an alternative rock/indie rock person, though rap is alright, and classic rock is good. Metal is ok sometimes, but I hate screamo. Also not a country fan at all.
SHAMELESS PLUG: My band Roky Moon & BOLT! is playing at 3pm on Saturday at the 29-95.com stage! Any Clutchfans out there holla at me I am the singer!
