I don't like hipsters because they refuse to bathe. and most of them are liberal p*****s. meh, I'm gonna pass on this year. the only artists I have any real interest in seeing are Lymbyc Systym and Ghost Mountain. and, since I have already seen Lymbyc Systym twice this year...ehh. Ghost Mountain is at Khon's Bar or Rudyards every other weekend. It's still a great idea, and they are fetching some big names. Cool.
im a musician in austin and know a few people in all those bands you are always listing and i can assure you that they would not be inline w/ your political beliefs either.
Talk about a load of pretentious bulls***. This whole "I'm cooler than you because I'm not cooler than you" schtick gets old real quick. At the very least, keep it to yourself for once.
DAMN YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOL. EVERYONE IS AN IDIOT BUT YOU! NOBODY 'GETS IT' BUT YOU! you realize that this posts makes you seem like 100x's the chump that you think everyone else is.
Oh ok bro. Sorry I harshed your buzz man. Sorry I came in and presented a differing viewpoint and you don't even know how to hate it properly because it messed with your normal cues. I don't even understand what it was I said in this thread that made people think I came in here just to **** on this festival. I explicitly stated I enjoy this festival and many of the musical acts that performed in it, does that sound like someone who hates the scene and the culture? God no, I don't think I'm "above it" by any means, I just find it hilarious how some freely participate in trivial feats of proving one's "cred" by naming off a list of Doolittles, Ok Computers, and Unknown Pleasures like knowing such information that any 12 year old could cram into his brain after spending 45 minutes on wikipedia and pitchfork.com could somehow achieve him a social status that affirms him as a well-informed human being capable and will hopefully get him laid. No man, I get it ok. I don't understand why you love the music so much, because it speaks to you differently. I don't understand that. Words speak to me more than music and lyrics. I enjoy music but it does not consume my worldview and influence my politics. Its funny, its a joke. I like jokes. Everything is ****ing pointless in life so why can't we just make fun of it?
i dont really get that vibe from posters on here. people who are more passionate about music tend to search out things more rather than just listening to whats presented out to us and they also tend to talk about music more than the average person, but i dont see any snobbery except from you. hope you work out your insecurities before the festival!
Holy **** you really believe there is no snobbery going on anywhere? Wow. I see snobbery every day almost nonstop on this BBS. It engulfs so many topics. Everyone is a critic on the internet, everyone is a cynical *******, nobody wants to be happy. If we were happy we'd be out enjoying life. I don't enjoy life. I ****ing hate life and everything in it. I write suicide notes for fun very often and think about how stupid everyone is. I wrote a suicide note today and I felt amazing. I'm not going to eat food for the next 72 hours because I need to cleanse my soul. I'm going to paint a ****ing ironic Bas-Relief of Jesus eating pork with the Republican Senate! PAY ATTENTION TO ME I'M BOHEMIAN GODDAMNIT!
Well that did nothing to change my opinion. I like music...a lot. Some of what I like isn't mainstream and some of it is. I don't specifically choose music based on it's popularity. I choose music based on whether I like it or not. I think it's the same for a large majority of people. You just have this incredibly annoying world view that automatically thinks the worst of people and their intentions. Life isn't pointless and great music is one of the things that makes it worth living.
Back on topic... I missed last year, but I think I'll definitely try to make it this year. To see Flaming Lips for that price alone is worth it. I don't know much of the rest of the lineup, but you never know...
and You really nailed it there. That is what its all about my friend. Misery loves Company. I am so cynical to the point of hatred of anything that is better than me, which is pretty much everything. No, I'm not the "funny man" everyone thinks I am. I'm in a daily ****ing hell. There is nothing fun about it. I'm in a lifeless marriage, unemployed and all I can do to forget about how ****ing pathetic and miserable my life is, is to point out other people's faults on a ****ing basketball message board. So **** everyone! Lets all have a ******* ****-infested cookie for breakfast. finalsbound doesn't love me at all, you all should know that. Nobody should love me I'm a self-loathing piece of **** who psychoanalyzes everything into oblivion. Its a ****ing sham of a marriage, she'd rather be single but the lease on the apartment doesn't run out until October. Fatty was right about me, I'm a loser and I got caught up in the moment. I don't deserve this rep status, I don't even deserve to be alive because I don't appreciate life at all. I spend 30 bucks on a meal to shovel more food into my fat bloated ass while other people go hungry. I would honestly rather die than live at this point. There. Happy?
moes, I think you're taking the cancellation of Ugly Betty a little too hard. On the plus side, Jamie Oliver won the TED prize for his talk on educating America about food.
Very well written and couldn't agree more. But anyways does anybody know the difference between tickets?
So, anyways, now that Moes' fake emo rant is over with, I have to admit that I have not heard of most of these bands...Flaming Lips are pretty good live, but are most of the other bands local? (I mean, I know about MMW and a couple of others, but that's about it) EDIT: I reread the first post and see which bands are local. Have been to see the Flaming Lips twice and really don't dig Mix Master Mike or MMW...probably going to sit this one out unless some of these other bands are really good
