Elvis Costello. I don't understand the appeal. Mission of Burma. I like them, but never got that into them. Never bought any of their music.
I was slow into Bach. Not that I didn't know he was a heavyweight but I thought he was overrated and just a methodical workhorse of church music. I would have said something absurd like "Telemann is better" in my younger days. Then I actually listened when I was older and could better understand that there is some brilliance there. Generally, there are not holes in my listening catalog...unless it is an issue of somehting that I would love but just don't know about. There are certainly things I probably should (based on other things I like) have gotten into but never did...but whatever. As examples, I also never got into Fugazi beyond Waiting Room and I loved Minor Threat. So that would seem odd. I still don't really care for the Pixies that much. I understand what they did and their huge influence (and like much of what they influenced) but something doesn't work with them for me. I grew to like Radiohead but hated them at first. I didn't like Love Supreme the first few times I tried to listen to it, now it is my favorite Coltrane. So I can't really answer the question all that well but I guess I can say that there was a period of 5 or so years where I really didn't branch into anything new. My buying was more about filling out my collection with what I already knew but didn't yet own. But I got to the point where my collection felt stale so I forced myself to investigate new things current and in the past. So now I have a huge queue of things I need to buy or want to learn more about before I buy. As in all aspects of life, the biggest hole is in what I don't know, not in what I don't collect.
this is one of the easier songs they have you could probably get into. in any case i have always liked them. never saw them live though. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RTWSSCYUD4E?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RTWSSCYUD4E?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

I get Radiohead (not a fan myself) but Coltrane/Husker Du?? You're mad! 'Zen Arcade' is one of the best albums of the 80s, IMO. I'll go next: Radiohead Arcade Fire Neutral Milk Hotel (sorry, Moe) Grizzly Bear
 I've heard! It's my gaping hole! Arcade Fire is on my list too. Just not my thing, regardless of how much we're supposed to like them.
Its ok to be wrong sometimes. I wasn't really that big on Arcade Fire but The Suburbs was really solid. I enjoyed it.
I seriously made an attempt to get into Rosetta, and I just couldn't. I don't know how to explain it.......because I love their texture. I love their vocals. Everything about them should add up for me, personally. If I could create an ideal band, it would be TWDY, If These Trees Could Talk & Dont Look Back meets Deftones and Norma Jean, and that is nearly what Rosetta is, but the vocals just always seemed to mesh with the the rest of the structre. not just mesh with. mess with. but tonight, for the 100th time. I gave Rosetta a listen, because they 'SHOULD' by all means be my ideal band. finally. I get it. Rosetta rules my shxt. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KZm3YGuJe9s?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KZm3YGuJe9s?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I'm just now starting to get into like EDM and stuff. Still haven't listened to that many artists, been meaning to listen to more. I really like the stuff i've heard. Seems more like something I'd rather see live than listen to on record though. I've found more than before but still don't listen to many. Mostly just Daft Punk, Justice, and Deadmau5 (which is probably the big generic 3. Most people say deadmau5 isn't even that good (and i will admit hes a bit repetitive) but eh). And I saw Boys Noize at a festival and had a ton of fun with that set. And I like the chemical brothers a lot. Besides that haven't listened to much. I'd like to go to an EDM centered festival (Ultra Fest in Miami seems to fit that bill. Though Voodoo had a really good line-up for its electronic stage this year, and its a lot closer. hope they continue that trend) Still haven't really listened to the Sonic Youth, or Pink Floyd, and theres a lot of rap I haven't listened to. Been meaning to listen to Outkast (besides the hit singles) for the longest time. Have only heard Doolittle from the Pixies. I've been hearing a ton about Portishead lately and I barely know anything about them. Theres more but I can't think beyond that. Forums, various websites and blogs Harrisment mentioned the Coachella boards, thats a good place. I visited it because I had planned to go to Coachella this year. That fell through, but I got caught up in the music discussion there and enjoy reading the stuff there every once in a while. I also have some friends I've met from forums that are very much into this stuff and give me suggestions.
If you are into EDM, you should def graduate to IDM. start with Baths and Flying Lotus. go from there.
I'll check them out. But what is IDM? Whats the difference? I really don't know much about EDM and the subgenres and what makes something EDM or what. Still just getting into that stuff
When you're living comfortably in the Caribbean on an island where indie means "Indies" or Indian more than it means "independent", and you don't have any external pressure to differentiate yourself, much less any significant access to those kind of musical channels, and they don't offer high speed internet in your area, why bother with it? I'm personally kinda glad the industry ran away from me with no hope of recovery
