Em's cd, Lupe's, Kanye's, Trae's, and even Redman coming out in August....I think I'll pass on Drake's CD.
I'm actually a fan of the album, but I'm still upset that its release overshadowed that of Nappy Roots' new gem "The Pursuit of Nappyness". Is that the chic that references lisa leslie and b list horror films in her lyrics? I wish there was a radio station that played nothing but 90s and early 2000s hip hop. On direct tv,during my workouts, I flip to those audio channels and select "BOOMBOX". All hip hop classics.
Whaaa? Damn I didn't even know Nappy Roots had a new CD! Really like their music even though I didn't think Humdinger was as good as their past Cd's but Beads and Braids is a fu**** classic. Saw that they released it on their own record label. Have to look for this tomorrow.
This dude needs to figure out what he wants to do, either rap or sing. Every other song was him singing about losin a girl or wantin a girl... sad when your mixtape probably sells better than your actual album. And I actually kinda like the dude. When's TI's new **** comin out?
Pitchfork gave Drake's new album an 8.4. (I must listen). But they didn't give it an Best New Music tag (Probably not going to listen to now). Other bands have gotten Best New Music tag with 8.2 and 8.3. Is this a racial incident? Discuss.
Looks like Drake changed up the order of the songs from the leak to the release. Now the album is more balanced, with good songs in between bad songs etc.
Most of the guys that "hated" the cd just held or are holding Drake to a higher standard since he murdered his mixtape and this is officially his debut album. It wasn't a fantastic album but it wasn't the most horrible hip hop album put out, I'd even put 50 cents most recent album as the last abismal thing put out on store shelves. IMO, he didn't live up to expectations in the eyes of the fans. On another note, someone is debating with me on whether Drake is a rapper or a singer (my wife). Can someone please tell this crazy broad that he is a rapper that can sing? That is all. :grin:
Album is great. You'll love it if you like what Drake does usual, if not then you'll probably not find it that great. I'm kind of going through a "romantic situation" right now (aka falling in love with a new girlfriend) so its pretty good stuff for my ears. And surprisingly, one of my friends who absolute hates Drake (but can't recognize a rappers voice) told me he loved the tracks I was listening too. Needless to say I told him it was Drake Oh and by the way, Eminem's new album is amazing aswell. Deep stuff.
Imagine that...another mixtape rapper that really sucks when it comes to creating an album. The rap game has been a joke for years and there are no signs of it being resurrected.
