11th grade me would fight you over this but I don’t care enough anymore and I don’t take you as a maiden or metal guy at all. But this is the truth…

    1. Killers
    2. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
    3. Piece of Mind
    4. Number of the Beast
    5. Powerslave
    6. Iron Maiden
    7. Somewhere in time

Anything after 1988 (seventh son) is throw away

Television. People always talk about the guitar duo of Lloyd and Verlaine and forget that Billy Ficca and Fred Smith were unbelievably talented musicians, too. Ficca is like a jazz drummer who sounds like he wants to blow up and fill the whole mix with his insane fills but can't because a guy with a gun at his side is forcing him to play like a garage rocker. Smith is not a flashy player at all but he is the backbone. Plays really smart with some cool fills here and there.

Just listen to the track Elevation to understand their worth. They elevate, pun intended, the band to a whole other level.

IMO Metallica is the greatest band of all time comprised of four top musician. They started out in 1982 and hit stardom with the "Black" album in 1992. They're still going strong today and is still as relevant as they were in their peak years(unheard of for a metal band). I can see them playing for another 10 years, where the band members will call it quit once they turn 70.

James Hetfield - He was one of the top rhythm guitar player coming into the 80s scene. Even today, his down picking is unmatched where most do the typical alternate picking (where playing fast is concern anyway).

Kirk Hammett - Also a top guitarist coming into the early 80s scene, where he has the best hooks and his lead playing is memorable and versatile. Everything from the beautiful power balled of Fade to Black or the shreddingly fast Master of Puppets. He complements James rhythms perfectly. Obviously Metallica did not miss Dave Mustaine one bit after he was fired and replaced him with Kirk.

Cliff Burton - Again a highly sought after bassist in the early 80s who wasn't afraid to break barrier to be different/unique and was quite the stage presence where all eyes would be on him. His heavy use of the wah petal and distorted bass sound was iconic. A bass solo was a necessity of his caliber where his technique was displayed in the soulful "Orion".

Lars Ulrich - He doesn't have much of a technical chops, but Lars has a lot of power and grooves, He gets unfairly critized for his lack of depth which Metallica does not need. He can play super fast with double bass if needed as displayed in Dyer's Eve or slow it down with power groove like in "One". Most importantly, he is the guy that drives the band musically and also handles the business side of things. A lot of the songs structures and arrangements are to his credit and is well documented in their official bio.

i listen to them quite often but ian brown can't sing.

as for squire, the seahorses were absolute rubbish. he was also the reason why the second album sounded like knock off led zeppelin. the lyrics to his song about the vide game character lara croft, yikes.

Lol but dig a little deeper. A bands most popular singles are usually not their best songs. Maiden has amazing epic metal deep cuts.

Your album list is great, I had most of those. The 2 songs I mentioned are my favorites, because reasons.

Got to see them at the Summit a couple of times. Was always fun to see what Eddie would look like.

I am biased but Rush had 3 of the best at their profession

    • Neil P (RIP) was one of the all time top 3 drummers.....Nuff Said
    • Geddy was ranked 24th best of all time by Rolling Stone
    • Alex was special in his own way, not on the level of Eddie VH but well above average

I’ve never liked ranking musicians like it’s sports.

Alex was the best guitarist for Rush.
