I admit, I went to a concert of his.

but it was free.... He performed at TCU during the first week back at school (Howdy Week) to welcome back the students etc.

**** the hate in this thread, but wuteva

lot of great ones have already been mentioned,

I Strongly agree with Hieroglyphics, Blackalicious, Little Brother, Jurassic 5, The Roots, Okayplayer, Blackstar, Tribe Called Quest, Kanye and Outkast, all if it is great and innovative stuff.

    here's a few more

If you like Nas, pick up Stillmatic and maybe the newest Street's Disciple
Ludacris - Word of Mouf (It's just packed with great cuts)
D12 - Devil's Night (Guilty pleasure, I love this album)
Jedi Mind Tricks - Violent by Design (It's weird ****, but the beats are great and the rhyming is downright insane at times)
Young Buck - Straight outta Cashville (Probably the strongest of the G-Unit stuff, surprisingly good)
the Jay-Z/Linkin Park Collision Course is also good stuff.
Dr Dre's Chronic 2001 is a must have.

    Stillmatic is horrible!

Jedi Mind Tricks has the worst mc's, but the beats are complete RZA (Wu Tang) ripoffs and awesome.

And it you you like RZA/Jedi Mind Tricks type beats check out the Jeru album "Wrath Of The Math".

Hey y'all, thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate the help. I actually do have most of Nas's albums. I tend to buy a lot of one artist's albums if I find something I like of theirs. I actually like Stillmatic and might place it below Illmatic and Lost Tapes. Street Disciple is good too, but it does have quite a few fillers in there (should have been a one disc album). I actually like "Bridging the Gap" from Disciple. That is a pretty cool song.

I do like Outkast. They make some pretty innovative music. I never got into 2pac (wasn't big on rap during the whole feud between him and Biggie), but I did recently get "Ready to Die" and that was quite good (what's up with rap albums and the uh skits? never understood why they have to interrupt their music with a minute or two of dialogue that is often not very good or funny). I am ashamed to say I haven't really listened to anything from the Roots, but I have been meaning to check them out...

Wow, a lot of good suggestions. Now, I have to go raid a music store and start using my plastic. Thanks and if any of you see anything else that wasn't mentioned, please post it! Much appreciatted.

Dude Stillmatic takes a **** on God's son and other Nas albums. One Mic is probably Nas' greatest work outside of Ill.

JMT doesn't have bad MCs, The lyrics are just whacked out so I don't really pay much attention to them because the beat and the flow sound nice.

Yeah, I have to agree with you about Stillmatic. Although a lot of the songs on this album sound "commercial," I absolutely love One Mic. I can play that song at repeat and not get sick of it. God's Son sounds like Stillmatic trying too hard to get a radio hit and failing.

Man, I really wish I was near a record store, so I can check out all of these album recommendations (call me old fashioned but I rather go to a store and buy albums than download or even order them online if at all possible). I just got to figure out where to start...

damn, man. bringing it back. gza's album was by far the best wu album. i was listening to that stuff down here in the early 90s and people thought i was crazy. odb's first album is great also (listening to it over and over the last couple of weeks. doing that i noticed that it almost has kind of a "industrial" feel to it... "stomp" and "brooklyn zoo II" do anyway.)

    agreed.
