I've been to both Wilco and Animal Collective shows. I damn near fell asleep twice at the Wilco show (though they did play 2 encores) I love Animal collective but I'm an electro junkie and love the Beach boys.
doesn't compute. Sigur Ros vs. GY!BE would be more interesting. In that case...I'd have to say.... dam. I really don't know. hmmm.
I will admit that I've never listened to a single Wilco album. As for Animal Collective, I had never really listened to them either until Merriweather Post Pavilion. I really liked most of the album, and decided to buy a ticket to go see them play at Stubb's in Austin back in 09. It was one of the most boring and dull shows I've ever experienced, and totally killed any interest I have in Animal Collective. It was bad.
I understand what you're saying. I think half the songs on MPP are amazing, but the other half is just kind of so-so.
Ah yes, it took 29 posts before someone pulled out a "hipster Ariel" meme. moes, You had KC in your pool, right? I knew I shouldn't have picked Landlord! D'oh!
I will echo what he said. Also listen to "Person Pitch" by Panda Bear. Those 3 albums (also includes MPP) are some of the best music I have heard in the last 4 to 5 years.
Strawberry Jam, Person Pitch, and Merriweather Post Pavillion are three amazing albums (can't wait for Tomboy) But I love Wilco too. Summerteeth and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot are amazing albums. Also didn't mind Wilco (the album), though everyone seems to hate it, so meh. Can't comment on live since I haven't seen either. Though I do love Wilco's live album. Have tickets to see Wilco in May though. Want to see AnCo but doubting they come by Texas any time soon. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll play a fest im going to (hoping for ACL)
I need to listen to Person Pitch this week (Before the new Radiohead on Saturday). "For Reverend Green" is my favorite song off Strawberry Jam.
Oh and if we are going by what I have seen live - I have seen Wilco twice live and both times they did not disappoint. Unfortunately, saw AnCo live at Bonnaroo in '08 and it was meh. If I actually liked them back then, it probably would have made a difference. But probably not enough to change my mind that Wilco is the better live act.
