^^^ Especially considering that "Smell Like Teen Spirit" is ranked as high as 24!!! You gotta be kidding me! The guitar solo in that song was nothing spectacular at all! It just directly followed the melody of the verses! No no no
Placing stairway to heaven as number one if folly that is being imitated by many these days. Its absolutely incredible but if you have ever heard david gilmour playing comfortably numb you would know it is easily the greatest solo OF ALL TIME! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0wtiNzci1Wc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0wtiNzci1Wc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> just skip to the solo, its like in the middle or something
Kirk Hammet and steve vai suck btw and there should have been more Buckethead and GNR in the top, Hendrix was awesome, but that doesn't warrant that many songs in the top.
So little Rush and The Who. I would've figured "Tom Sawyer" "Analog Kid", "YYZ" would've been on there along with "Baba O'Reilly" "Who Are You" and "Love Reign O'er Me"
Maybe not - but come on.... There's no way they could put Smells Like Teen Spirit so high and Rush so low (and only once). That's just wrong.
I agree with you but I think they were going off of how iconic Smells like Teen Spirit is. That said though alot of Rush is pretty iconic.

No mention of Eddie Hazel's solo on "Maggot Brain"?? Shomer shabbos! (<--yeah I looked up the spelling.) As for the list, I don't have too many issues with the top ten posted. That said, Kirk Hammet's solo has no business being in the top ten and Nirvana has no business being in a top anything list where musical ability is one of the deciding factors. And I love Nirvana....there are just waaaaaaaay too many musicians who were better.
Johnny B Goode changed music. It's number one and has been since Chuck Berry played the first note of this song. What they had to say: "[My mama] said, 'You and Elvis are pretty good, but you're no Chuck Berry.'" - Jerry Lee Lewis. "If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it 'Chuck Berry'." - John Lennon.
How is Europa not in the top 10? Wait... November Rain? If I can play the solo, it doesn't belong in the top 10.
i think they mean the outro, its actually pretty hard to play it correctly. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/M3xXFe2KAiY&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/M3xXFe2KAiY&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Two songs that no one here may have heard of with amazing solos. Craig Erickson - Train Jam (lots of effects and stuff, but still good technically) Doyle Bramhall II - Smokestack (almost no effects, pure blues guts, if you like SRV, this will make you j*zz yourself) For a teaser, skip to minute 4. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tDvCxXzkBKc&hl=en_GB&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tDvCxXzkBKc&hl=en_GB&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I'd have included Buckethead for Soothsayer, but he prob. isn't popular enough. And Tornado of Souls or Hanger 18 (Megadeth/Marty Friedman) over One (Hammet) for the obligatory thrash metal solo.
