There was chatter on some UT forums this morning that the suspect had ben arrested. At the time, it seemed like rumors to be taken with a grain of salt. However, I guess it was true.

The other rumors about additional footage of him and even the murder itself are particularly bad.

We'll see how much information they release. Fenves' email makes it sound like not a lot of detail will be given.

Not going to happen if he's 17.

So, at 17, it's possible or even probable that he's not even a UT student, right?

It is possible. I wonder if it could've been someone who was here for relays or an early enrollee or something like that. Terrible situation. Curious if the fire dept got called to a dorm while he tried to destroy the backpack.

Police say he was homeless. They are going to release his picture later and ask anyone who has seen him around town to notify them.

Confirmed to be a homeless 17-year-old that was recognized by the person who called in him starting a fire on Medical Arts, blocks from the crime scene. APD picked him up at Lifeworks shelter.

the fact that he's homeless is going to make people seriously scared, especially in West Campus where there's a large homeless population.

I worked on campus late at night in the Union and we dealt with homeless population more times than I can count. They would often come in and be belligerent to employees and students.

The only time I ever felt unsafe around UT was when I'd clock out and walk home after work at 12:30/1 am with all of the "Drag Rats" hanging around. They're aggression during the day was straight up intimidating at night.

The homeless drag rats are very aggressive now. It's sad that an incident like this was bound to happen.

Nobody wants to give them money. And I'm sure that's not making them feel happy about the students

He hasn't been convicted yet, folks. Just saying. He is a suspect. Maybe he did it. Maybe he was in the wrong area at the wrong time and he'll be exonerated.

He was found burning her belongings blocks away from the crime scene and arrested in a homeless shelter in possession of her bags. This would be quite the coincidence if he isn't guilty.
