As much as I hate to say this, but Quitten and Horace Grant were drafted together in 1987, I believe....

Westbrook and Ibaka were selected in the same draft but Ibaka didn't come over until the next year when Harden was selected.

Y'all are aiming too high with these names. Most of the guys y'all bring up were high draft picks. Our group isn't.

You'd almost have to compare them to the Cavs class when they drafted Knight, Henderson, Andersen, and someone else. I think they made the playoffs, showed a lot of promise, then collectively fell off the face of the planet.

1981: Mavericks drafted Rolando Blackman & Mark Aguirre
1981: Pistons drafted Kelly Tripucka & Isiah Thomas (Tripucka was gone by the time the won their back to backs, but was an all-star for them)

1986: Cavs drafted Brad Daugherty & Mark Price

1987: Bulls draft Pippen & Grant

2001: Grizz draft Pau Gasol & Shane Battier

2004: Magic draft Dwight Howard & Jameer Nelson

2008: Kevin Love & Nikola Pekovic

    Alridge/Roy & Tomjanovich/Murphy

There are others where they were both decent role players, but those are the best examples I could come up with.

Even though we didn't draft Scola, we did trade for his rights several years later, and they were from the same draft. Similarly Marc Gasol & Conley are from the same draft.

Ben Gordon & Luol Deng were both okay together.

Scola, Landry, and Brooks from the Rockets. Also Cuttino and Dickerson (1 season, but decent rookie years).

Most recently for the Rockets was
    - Aaron Brooks (20 ppg scorer, MIP, traded for a 1st roun pick and Goran Dragic)
    - Luis Scola (avg'd 15 ppg and 8 rpg) drafted a few years earlier but was a rookie in the same year.
    - Carl Landry (turned into a 16 ppg scorer and a 6th man of the year candidate in Houston) traded for Kevin Martin.

Those are probably the best examples of three rookies coming into the league together, drafted outside of the top 10 and having success. Only 1 of those guys (Aaron Brooks) was a 1st round draft pick while both Landry and Scola were second round picks. All of those guys turned into impact players which I find amazing.

    In 1998 the Rockets drafted
    - Micheal Dickerson career ended too soon but he was the key component in the Steve Francis trade
    - Cuttino Mobley (career 16 ppg scorer, 6th man of year candidate and one of 2 key components in TMac trade to Houston)

This draft is remembered for it's failures (Turcan, Drew) and who we did not draft (Rashard Lewis) instead of its successes but Dickerson and Mobley were pretty damn good players.

Obviously we're hopping for at least one of our players to turn into Franchise type players which most people scoff at because none were top 5 over all picks (even though this is considered a deep draft).

    - Lamb 12th over all
    - White 16th over all
    - Motiejunas 20th over all
    - Jones 18th over all

There are good examples of all-star caliber players picked outside of the top 5 or even outside the lottery all together that are stud all-star players.

    1996 Draft:
    - Kobe Bryant 13th over all
    - Peja Stojakivic 14th over all
    - Steve Nash 15th over all
    - Jermain O'Neal 17th over all
    - Zydrunas Ilgauskus 20th over all

    1997 Draft:
    - Tracy McGrady 8th over all

    1998 Draft:
    - Dirk Nowitzki 8th over all
    - Paul Pierce 9th over all
    - Rashard Lewis 32nd over all

    1999 Draft:
    - Andre Miller 8th over all
    - Shawn Marion 9th over all
    - Jason Terry 10th over all
    - Corey Maggette 13th over all
    - Ron Artest 16th over all
    - Andre Kirilenko 24th over all
    - Manu Ginobli 28th over all

    2000 Draft:
Possibly the worst draft of all time, not a single all star caliber player selected in either round by any team.

    2001 Draft:
    - Joe Johnson 10th over all
    - Richard Jefferson 13th over all
    - Zach Randolph 19th over all
    - Gerald Wallace 25th over all
    - Tony Parker 28th over all
    - Gilbert Arenas 31st over all

    2002 Draft:
    - Amare Stoudimire 9th over all
    - Carlos Boozer 35th over all

    2003 Draft:
There were some good players like David West and Josh Howard but none that are All-star caliber drafted outside the top 6 players in the draft.

    2004 Draft:
    - Andre Iguodala 9th over all
    - Al Jefferson 15th over all
    - Josh Smith 17th over all
    - Kevin Martin 26th over all

    2005 Draft:
    - Andrew Bynum 10th over all
    - Danny Granger 17th over all
    - Monte Ellis 40th over all

    2006 Draft:
    - Rudy Gay 8th over all
    - Rajon Rondo 21st over all
    - Kyle Lowry 24th over all
    - Paul Milsap 24th over all

    2007 Draft:
    - Jokim Noah 9th over all
    - Al Thorton 14th over all
    - Wilson Chandler 23 over all
    - Marc Gasol 48th over all

    2008 Draft:
    - Brooke Lopez 10th over all pick
    - Roy Hibbert 17th over all pick
    - Serge Ibalka 24th over all pick
    - DeAndre Jordan 35th over all pick
    - Omer Asik 36th over all pick

Thats as current as I'm going because the players from 2009 - 2011 just don't have the body of work behind them yet in order to know what kind of players they are yet. In 2008 only Hibbert is an all-star caliber player IMO but there were so many notable big men drafted after the 8th over all pick that could become all-star caliber that I thought it was worth listing them.

There are a lot of very good players that were drafted late lottery and on that (Landry, Brooks, Scola, Aaron Afflalo, Dragic etc...) that I did not mention just because I wanted to keep the list exclusive to all-star caliber talent. I'm sure I missed some players but as you can see, this list is full of not just all star caliber players but also MVP caliber players. Steve Nash who was drafted 16th over all really got recognized by winning his 2 MVPs in his 9th and 10th seasons. Players like Rondo, Parker, Ginobli have all been mentioned as MVP type candidates at different times in their careers.

They main thing I wanted to show was that just because a player was not picked in the top 5 or top 2 does not mean it's laughable that they could develop into a franchise type of player. Personally I don't think it's a stretch at all to say that a couple of our rookies have that type of potential.

the comparison is almost creepy .. check in both drafts we got a black player (dickerson and lamb) a "white" player (drew and white (who is not white by skin color but white by name) and a foreign player (turshad (spelling?) and DMO)

That draft has been mentioned in a couple of posts. The problem is that 2 of those players you mentioned sucked and you failed to mention the best Rockets draft pick from that season..... Cuttino Mobley who was better than all of them and was a 2nd round pick.

Also, that draft is best known for who we did not draft. Rashard Lewis.

Yep, Minnesota never meant to keep Roy. That pick was always meant for Portland because the T-Pups wanted Randy Foye.
