From what I've heard, that's him. That's part of why I think this had something to do with family issues.

no you shouldn't and I've stated why earlier.

nobody has stated otherwise. Nobody is against banning guns for homicidal people (have fun identifying them). People disagree that taking guns away from everyone will reduce the homicide rate and the data backs this up as there is no correlation between gun laws and homicide rates. In fact homicide rates have been going down in the US while guns per capita have been going up.

if your stated goal is to reduce murders regardless of means then of course it does. Now if your trying to determine why homicide rates are higher in one area, then sure you could look at the numbers you are suggesting. But if you want to look at if a piece of legislation is working and the goal of that legislation is to reduce the homicide rate, then it is moronic to look at gun death rates.

Its not what I'm doing. Using homicide rate makes zero assumptions as the stated goal by you and me is to reduce the homicide rate (or suicide rate). I dont have to assume anything because I am looking at that correct data.

Doesn't seem to have been that effective, but we'll wait to see what difference it made, if any.

Now that's really interesting. If that account is true, it makes it seem like the random civilian with a rifle managed to hit the guy causing him to eventually bleed out which prevented the shooting from getting any worse.

Still early though so we should wait for confirmation.

My heart goes out to all the victims and their families. Small town America isn't like a Norman Rockwell painting any more.

Brilliant. Simply a brilliant post. You must be so proud of your mental capacity. When calling our relatives in the San Antonio area to make sure they were OK, your posts were uppermost on my mind. If only everyone were like you. We wouldn't need to be concerned with the United States! Why? Because the United States most of us grew up in wouldn't exist.

There must eventually be some limit. Maybe a mass shooting every day for 45 days? before folks are willing to ban the f'ing things.
    Only in America.

Well, not really, it was still a tragedy, but it seems like a good person with a gun stopped the rampage before it got any worse. So that's something.
