ESPN did something similar when they had a "Worst Champions of All Time" list that included the Diamondbacks team that won the World Series, the Baltimore Ravens who won the Super Bowl, and your own 1995 Houston Rockets. Is this what we've become? We can't even give respect to teams that have done what no other team could do in that given year? It's getting to be downright sickening.

One thing I've really learned during this streak in watching teams play is that a lot of NBA players don't really try all that hard on defense- and they certainly don't work well with each other on defensive rotations and the like. I've really grown to appreciate the effort our team puts forth on defense- and it is such an underrated aspect of sports, at least by the media.

Quite frankly, watching teams jack up scores to 120 and 130 isn't all that great after a while. It's like watching the All-Star game where you just don't care after the 50th wide-open dunk. Call me crazy, but our brand of mad-dog defense is much more interesting and gratifying to watch.

They still say the Rockets champsionships were the worst teams.

They also hate to acknowledge Hakeem is a top 5 center of all time. If they put him in there, they do it kicking and screaming.

To be honest, our team is not the most powerful one without yao, but why we have 20 win streak? becuse we have heart, everyone play hard, everybody believe, and they trust each other. I am so happy about that. win or lose, thank you! And I believe our Dynasty will begin at next season.
    And please no more injury!!!God!!

It's actually a pretty good article. Headline sucks, but the article is pretty good.

    good article from sam.

and some of you need to remember that writers don't chose the headlines for their articles.

"With the Hornets, whom they beat twice in the run, faltering some of late before routing the Spurs Wednesday, the Rockets didn't beat a division leader."

I thought that when we beat the Hornets the first time around they were #1 in the Western Conference. And we beat them on the road. And after a back to back. And with their entire lineup.

But anyways, no one can complain now that the media is not giving the Rockets attention.

We should take the article as a compliment. What he is saying is that on paper we shouldn't be this good especially with Yao out. Remember not that long much of CF.net was saying the same thing. He's saying that with one true star we've far exceeded expectations that NBA pundits might have about us but that given the type of ball we play it shouldn't be a surprise.

As for the 1995 Champion Rockets given we limped into the playoffs in the 6th seed with only 47 wins just looking at record we were the worst team to win a championship but that is part of what makes that Championship so great that we confounded all of the so-called experts and even made Bob Costas publicly eat crow that he doubted us.

    Good article.

All he's saying is that on paper, this isn't a team you would pick to go on a 20-game win streak. I don't think even the most biased Rocket fan in the world can argue with that.

    You guys are too sensitive.

Just like how some of the media/fans think our championship teams were the "worst team" to win a title. Yeah, keep the hate coming fellas. It'll make you guys look even more stupid win we win a ring.

"They've managed to get Rafer Alston, a famed street ball legend, to play under control." Writers are always saying this and it makes no sense. Rafer's been under control for years, longer than he's been with the Rockets. His problem has never been control, it's been his shooting accuracy.

Outside of T-Mac, noone on this team can create their own shot. We're offensively challenged to say the least, yet we get by with our gritty defense and hard nosed play. Defintely amazing how we've won 20 in a row.

His turnovers are way down lately..so in that sense, he's more in control.

Actually, this is not entirely true. Rafer can and has created his own shot- witness the Dallas game. He just doesn't do it often. Bobby Jackson and Luther Head can actually create their own shots, so can Luis Scola and Carl Landry. They're just not dominant like T-Mac. Look at Dirk vs. Scola. Dirk doesn't do anything differently than Scola except that he drives a little better and shoots a little better. But it's not like he and Scola are that different.

Are u seriously comparing Scola with Dirk? You're comparing an MVP to a solid role-player. I dont like Dirk as much as the next guy, but to say him and Scola arent much different is just idiotic. if we had Dirk on this team we would be champions. Yes, Rafer and Luther can create their own shots, but not nearly as well as some of the other average PG's in the league (Jameer Nelson, Delonte West, Ridnour). We have to work hard since we're not as offensively talented as other teams. That's a fact.

Not a bad article...but I keep getting annoyed with the fact that he keeps saying we have no Hall of Famers. Of course don't have any Hall of Famers...they're not eligible yet! Years down the road, they'll say the Houston Rockets team that won a NBA record 34 straight games featured four Hall of Famers - Yao, TMAC, Deke, and Scolandry!

they had him on ESPN this morning. he said TMac isn't a hall of famer & isn't in the top 30 players in the league. of course, he thinks we're first round fodder.

on the bright side, he wrote off our playoff chances when Yao went out ... so he's coming around.
