and it only took six years for that realization to dawn on you?

wait, i thought you wanted what's best for the country, not what's best for the democrats. since you don't know who'll be running in 2008, and what the ultimate issues will be, how can you say now that it's most important for the democrats to win?

People don't want what impeachment brings. They want a quick and easy punishment equal to impeachment.

Censures should be given to solidify Bush's place in history books.

If Dems show restraint and the Republicans ever try a repeat of the baseless Clinton impeachement, it would be on. What little is left of polite politics in America would be dead forever.

Stop this impeachment nonsense. Bush is a lousy president, but don't impeach him, correct the things he did wrong and make America better. The end goal isn't for a great democrat party or Republican party, it is to have a better America for all Americans. Democrats should be the bigger man here and look pass the past and find a plan for the future.

It should be "on" right now... there are just better ways to go about it than impeachment. If it not "on" right now, the people who have run the Republican Party and the country into the ground will come back and do the same thing, regardless of how Dems behave. The Dem strategy over the next 4 years should have 2 goals:

    1. Competent government

    2. Driving a stake into the heart of the Cheney/Bush wing of the Republican Party and burying it as deep as possible. You can't kill it, you can only discredit it for a generation or two and that's what needs to be done.

Its just a matter of time that America realizes AGAIN that they really don't want democrats in control and it will vote Republican.

The neo-cons were able to use 9/11 to invoke fear and push their agenda. And we all see what that agenda was - world domination and control....if we had let them go too far, they may have rewritten the rules to maintain their own power. Clearly the neo-cons were willing to say and try anything to maintain that power - including calling the democrats terrorists.

But the neo-cons have been casterated. Rumsfield is gone, and Chaney is silenced. Bush is now faced with having to switch back to a more moderate ideology to avoid investigation of his presidency. Bush truly is the coward, and I'm sure Rove is telling him - make love with the dems now, or face a special prosecuter. To placate the dems, Bush offered Rummy on a silver platter. Would rummy be gone anyway - no, a week before hand bush was saying rummy was here to stay.

The future is hard to know - but it's hard to imagine that there will not be significant reduction in American troop levels in Iraq. It's also likely that our homeland security will improve, as the dems want to implement all of the 9/11 commission recommendations even though repubs see them as anti-business.

I choose security over the bottom line of mega-corporations.

Expect a shift in the war on terror - to be more practical then ideological. Focus more on the Israeli-Palestinian crisis which is the source of anger in the arab world, and also reverse the neglect that's happened in Afganistan. How have we allowed the Taliban to come back to power - this is the greatest failure of the neo-cons and Rummy.

I hope the bitter partisanship that has marked Bush is over. The Republicans have really played nasty, and hopefully the dems won't be tempted to return the favor. But I expect nire cooperation, and liberal democrats still are a minority in the new congress.

You're asking how other people can say what they say? How hilarious. Since your party got the holy crap beat out of them in the election, you've been like a spinning top here, shooting off threads left and right with no purpose other than to find some fault, somehow, with those of the party that just beat you like a drum. You just can't handle the truth... the American people repudiated your "hero," George W. Bush, and at the polls called him what he is, an idiot, unworthy of support. He's a failure, and the American people called him out, and told him so with the method politicians understand best... their votes. I find your reaction sad and pathetic. Frankly, at least Trader_J is amusing. basso, you're coming across as bitter, and unable to face reality.

Of course, that is my opinion. With all respect due.
And I have no pleasure in saying it.

By the way, Mrs. rimrocker and I caught each other's eyes tonight and both of us just broke out in huge, wide grins. Nothing precipitated it and nothing needed be said. Just feels good when you win, especially against this group.

It'll be a light Christmas for the two of us as we spent most of our disposable between July and November 7. Best money we've ever spent and best Christmas we'll have in a long time.

Impeachment doesn't serve the country's interests, and will just further divide the nation and take away time/attention/energy from the more overriding issues of the day.

Enough with this nonsense! Congressmen/women should stop acting like spoiled kids in a pillow fight and start doing some work for a change.

I am just sick and tired of the two parties, they have made a mockery of our republican system of government...

I think the Dems should come out and say.

"We think George Bush should be impeached, but it would do more harm than good for the country, so therefore we are going to concentrate on fixing his mess"

THAT is what I want to hear.

As much fun as it would be to actually impeach Bush, our right it would be even better to just undo his mess.

Unfortunately there is no way to undo the mess we are in. The best we can do is survive it and try not to get into anymore messes. We were screwed in Iraq as soon as we dissolved the Iraqi army and probably before then.

to be fair, there is a bit of polling bias in the question.
