This will be interesting... So, the committee that is supposedly regulating the banking industry might be influenced by the very industry it is overseeing? Color me shocked. If she does get on the Banking Committee, it will be a big win for your average American consumer, be they Dem or Repub.
Outstanding news. Regardless of her politics, lobbyists should not get to dictate who is on what committee.
It would be a big loss for conservatives and libertarians. A good day for the 1% It makes me happy that she is one of the only two politicians I gave money to. The other was Alan Grayson.
Excellent. The bankers own most of the Banking Committee-- all the Grand Old corporate Party folks and sadly many of the Dems, too. I
Senator Warren doing exactly what she was voted into office to do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2F6YkBa_Tig Facing a panel of bank regulators, she observes that in the present climate, banks can break the law, then use a portion of the illegally gained profits to pay out-of-court settlements with regulators and prosecutors instead of gong to trial. Settlements essentially have become the price of doing (illegal) business. She asks the simple question: "Can any of you tell me when was the last time any of you brought a Wall Street firm to trial?" The panel struggles to answer and she sticks to her guns. She then ends with this gem:
I'm just guessing she knew the answer to the question before she asked it. So much for the archaic idea of quietly sitting in the Senate for a few years while you build relationships and credibility.
Who is she asking to bring a wall street firm to trial? And what wall street firm would she like to see tried? Just any for the sake of trying a firm? Sounds like basic witch hunting to me. The dumb, dishonest, moron doesn't even mention one firm she thinks is guilty of some crime.
