When did we have many "weapons"? Posey and Griffin can't shoot full stop. Taylor and Rice can get hot over a shot period of time but cannot be consistently relied on. Mobley is as streaky as you can imagine and is unable or unwilling to pass the ball. They should never ever have more touches and shots than Yao and Francis (who are our best shot makers and creators). Your best players should get the ball (to shoot or pass) every time every game, especially during the crunch time. Get it?

good point...Yao and francis (the franchise players) taking less shots than mo taylor or griffin ain't gonna get you any wins.

Newgirl, you're not so new anymore? Are you ever going to change your name? :)

With all due respect, Jonhty, your post makes no sense. Really. I mean, the Rox may have more than a few weapons (which isn't true, BTW), but even still, the BEST weapons are Yao and Stevie. Think of it this way, Dallas has way more weapons on their team than do the Rox, but Nowitzki/Nash/Finley are able to get up @ the very least 15 shots per for three players, but all shots the Rox can muster for their TWO best players -- on a night when BOTH shot over 50% no less -- is 10 and nine, respectively. To make matters worse, you got a guy off the bench (Taylor) taking more shots than them.

When you look @ the boxscores for a Lakers game you ALWAYS know what two players are going to be doing the most shooting on that team. Unless pigs learn to fly or worms grow ears, it's going to be Shaq & Kobe. I mean, ever since Yao "arrived" (his FIRST game against the Lakers), there should have never been a game in which he or Stevie didn't lead the team in FGA in a game. Period. It can flip-flop between those guys, but no one else. I would LOVE for this to be a rugular boxscore (FGA):

    Francis -- 16-18 shots a game
    Mobley -- 10 shots a game
Griffin -- seven shots a game (needs to concentrate more on bumbin' 'bows with the other PF downlow anyway)
Posey -- five shots a game (didn't we get this guy for defense and whatever offense he could give us in the first place?)
    Yao -- 18-20 shots a game

I'm telling you, if this happened regularly (and of course more consistent defense) the Rockets would be tough to beat.

BTW -- I really have to give Francis credit b/c his FGA are @ a career low (16.5) and they continue to go down as he learns what it takes to win. He's learning how to mix his offense with pure PG-skills. Just get those damn turnovers down and he'll really be taking it to another level. :)

Yes - and Jean-Claude Van Damme is a better actor than Chuck Norris but I wouldn't pay a $1 to see either of their movies. To me this goes to show you how bad the "assistants" are - and Larry is our best one! Larry's been around long enough to know the "system" works. Rudy's master plan is to surround himself with people who can't take his job.

Excellant points! I completely concur. I feel very strongly about the above points. For this team to win we have to do it with our Franchise players. What other teams in the NBA have role players shoot more shots then their stars? Would Kobe, Shaq, Garnett, Duncan, McGrady do this? No. Because they know to win games THEY have to score the points. Same thing here. The franchise players have to play well and shoot the shots. The role players have to support of course, they are needed, but they should not be counted on to LEAD the team in putting up shots.

Yeah, I would love to see that type of shot distribution as well. If Yao got 18-20 shots a game peppered with going to the FT line a few times I bet he would be close to 30PPG. If Yao scores 30PPG and Steve is in the 20s and we have a few role players / bench guys getting over 10PPG this team is going to win a bunch of games.

Shaq and Duncan have to deal with double teams everynight. Their respective teams know how to attack those double teams and make teams pay. Our team does not seem to be able to do this. And until we can we will not make the next step.

What if Rudy decides to shut it down for the rest of the regular season?

It is waayyy too simplistic to say that defense was the problem. It had more to do with the attitude of our players than defense. When players start doing behind the back dribbles while trailing in the game (while tripple teamed) then those players lack respect for authority (Larry Smith and Rudy) and show sign of immaturity.

Our problem is deeper than what meets the eye.

Evena high school kid would ahve known that passing the ball to Yao and letting Rice on the 3 point line was the only play we needed to win!
Just plain Dumb. And I thought Rudy sucked! How do these jokers get to be Assistant coaches of Playoff bound NBA teams?
    Someone sucked something pretty hard!:p

To me the Rockets are the ones trippin! Yea I know he do have some fault but to me even if you have to brake a play but it gets u a better bucket go ahead!! Like Kenny Smith said Cat, Stevie, and Moochie have dribbling diareah (however u spell it!)also Mo Taylor!! To me the rockets play one-on-one too much and I know NO COACH TELLS HIS PLAYERS TO PLAY TO ONE-ON-ONE!!!

Larry Smith seems to like to bench the starters in favour of bench players after they made a few mistakes or missed a few shots. What's his rationale on it? How could he have such little faith in the starters? Well maybe it's because it's not *his* starting team.

This Smith man scares me crazy. I am afraid that he is dumb enough to single-handedly derail us. What worries me most is that he did not have to re-invent the ship - he took over with only about 15 games left, the ship was not sinking; we were on a freaking role.

Oh I am mad that Rudy tried to sell this BS that he has capable assistants. What a crock! What Smith has suceeded in doing is just insult Rudy and mess up what he spent countless hours, days and months to build.

I pray God hear my prayer and make Phoenix break down completely here on out because there is nothing we will gain from going to the lottery again. I don't care about being swept by Dallas in the playoffs just get there by default.

How I wish the Clippers can hire Smith Larry after this season so that he will not be path of us EVER again. In hindsight, saying he is useless is just an understatement.

    Rubbish.
