I shudder to think that our guards share the same sentiment with you. Sad indeed.

Good grief. You're entitled to your opinion but I think most objective people would agree with me.

The Sonics shut the Yao Ming (and the Maurice Taylor) option down last night. We were pounding our head against the wall down there on the low block. Our inside-out game wasn't working at all. How can you ignore that?

That's just as bad as ignoring the fact that Yao Ming has demonstrated that he should be the ROY for this season.

Please, let's bring some sanity to all this. I think by your comments you show that you have a distinct presumption and negative disposition about the Rocket guards regardless of the facts. Now that's sad.

It was his first game as THE coach not just keeping stats for Rudy. Man there are some critical people in the bbs despite not being a NBA coach EVER. some people just don't realize...sad.

First, definite objectivity......... or rather "objective people" and then take a poll after that to back up your claim.

Fyi, I consider myself a right-wing "objective person" (whatever that means). And another food for thought - the term "Objective People" is at best mythical - it really does not exist (at least among sport fans) because in many cases it is rather subjective.

    Go figure!

If we had been going to Yao the whole time, we will not lose this game, absolutely not.

I meant DEFINE OBJECTIVITY (rather than definite objectivity).

Okay...what don't you get??? I never said anything about style of play. All I said was that we isoed to death last night, almost everytime down the court in the 4th quarter (did you watch the game?). The And1 players iso EVERYTIME down the court. I never said Francis throws the ball off players' heads or throws himself an alleyoop or whatever. All i was referring to was isos. Why can't you guys read my post and take it for what it is instead of trying to imply that I'm a francis hater? I've never posted anything bad about francis. Sheez!

Okay...first of all, have you ever been to an AND1 run? I HAVE. In Oakland, CA. Do you realize how many damn alleyoops guys like hot sauce throws? I'd be surprised if they didn't get 10 assists every game!

I taped the game last night. Don't make me send you a copy of the 4th quarter. Did you watch the game?

Why can't you spell "guards" right??? r****d... Hmm...why do you imply so much ****? My original post was a one liner almost. I never said anything about guards being selfish, nor are they about stats, nor did they ignor yao. WTF?
Man...I don't know what to say about some members on this bbs.

    Hey, I'm with Tango.

It seems the first half, and particularly the first quarter, our inside game was strong to quite strong. Both Yao & Eddie were really involved. Cat hit some shots, too. Our offense was firing on all cylinders.

Unfortunately, MoT got called for 3 quick fouls early, and because of that he never got his game going. It's a shame, 'cause we sure coulda used it.

Then, I imagine at halftime, ole Nate told his players they had to double Yao fast, and double Yao furious. They shut down the post game, and unfortunately our outside game wasn't very good; we weren't hitting our shots.

On the other end, towards the end of the game, the Sonics were taking it to us pretty hard. I personally thought Larry's best move was when he subbed Cato in for Yao near the 2nd half of the 4th quarter. Things were getting out of hand, guys were dunking & shooting over Yao, and the crowd was going nuts. Putting Cato (and his mean attitude) in there changed the momentum just enough to at least give us a chance.

How do you go about playin Rice only 13 minutes when he's been red hot recently? I understand the offense couldnt really click because Yao was double and triple teamed...but why is Posey, who couldnt hit water if he fell out of a boat, in the game when he's not even doing anything on defense? Rice should have been played more and our defense could not have played worse. Bottom line.

Yao also needs to be more aggressive and try to get a foul called when hes being double and tripleteamed. He's automatic from the line. I know if Rice was out there, he would have been able to find Rice out there all day but u know........Im jus bein bitter.

Guys, I hope this helps you see how much better of a coach Rudy is than Mr. Mean.

He is definitely crap right now.

I don't know what the heck he is doing.

Bring Mo Taylor in with like 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

He's playing them way too long.

Then he's playing Moochie the whole 2nd quarter.....AND IN THE 4th quarter.

He's not setting up any plays for Glen Rice.

Well Glen Rice isn't making any.

Our defense has been sucking. No intensity. One person screws it up for all.

    We need Rudy.

And why the heck take Eddie Griffin out when he was like on fire?!?

Let me post this again on this thread.

    Our best 2 players:
Yao: 9 shot attempts (and none in the crunch 4th quarter except 1 in meaningless garbage time)
Steve: 10 shot attempts (and hardly a play called for him in the 4th quarter)

    Our role players:
Taylor: 13 shot attempts (and repeatedly had post plays run for him even when Yao's also on the court)
    Griffin: 13 shot attempts
    Mobley: 12 shot attempts

Can anyone explain the logic of this kind of shot distribution? How could this be justified?

Forget the defensive attention and double team excuse. Your best players should always get most shot attempts and role players should always defer to the best players.

It's bad coaching, selfish role players and nothing else.

    I know..............................................that is weird.

Yeah sure....our offense is much more balanced. BUT man...I'm missing the days when Francis scored 30 points. It's been a while. Recently....he's been shooting like 50% but he's only been taking like 10 shots. :)

    Yao....well some days......he gets like 17....others.....about 8.

Both of them have to get involved. :(

    Patience....

But yes. Mr. Mean is useless.

no, we have too many weapons to go to Yao and Steve every time. we need to get everyone involved. how is that being selfish??

How can they be not selfish? Role players should always defer to the franchise players, especially in the clutch. Period.

Plus Yao and Steve don't need to shoot every time. They can make the pass. They're our best shooters AND playmakers.

    Our "real problem was defense"
I think we do better in defense, the key to the win is offense which is most effective weapon of defense. We score not high enough to win. That is the focuse. We need Yao and Rice attack.

I think defense and not making defensive adjustments seem to be the biggest problem right now. I know Rice has had a couple of good offensive games a while back, but he gets hot maybe once every five or six games, and his defense is non-existent. I'm all for limiting Rice's minutes. I don't think it's worth having a defensive liability out on the floor hoping that this night is the one in five that he'll actually be able to shoot.
