Rudy still thinks that Mooch is a star. He is a terrible game time coach. Nachbar needs minutes, and why the hell does he leave Mooch in to run the O in the fourth? And then when he sucks why doesn't Rudy bench him?

Donnie Walsh is responsible for that Pacers team, not Isiah Thomas. Thomas probably wasn't even in the top 20 of that ranking from ESPN before the season.

Rudy is a coattail rider. He can't make game time adjustments, isn't a good xs and os man, can't direct his players. He couldn't use Barkely and Hakeem, he couldn't mix in Pippen, if VMax hadn't lifted Houston on his shoulders in Phoenix no champ 1, if Drex hadn't done it in Utah no champ 2. Players have always bailed Rudy out, not the other way around. You can't rely on Rudi to draw up a play out of a time out. You can't rely on him to fix a rotation or have a plan for his team. He watches tape and tries and all... but he's just no coaching genius. Rudy is waiting for the Answer to fall into his lap, instead of trying to lead others to it. Even when Yao falls in his lap, Rudy has to wait to see what Yao can hand him, instead of the other way around.

I'd rather have Rick Carlisle, Flip Saunders, Larry Brown, Pat Riley, Don Nelson, Jerry Sloan, Doc Rivers, Jeff Van Gundy, Greg Popovitch, Zeke, Philip, O'Brien, Adelman, Eric Mussleman, etc, but not Lon Kruger, Don Chaney, Mo Cheeks, George Karl, Gary St. Jean, Alvin Brooks, etc. Go ahead, defend him. Tell me how Rudy has some mystery coaching powers that make his teams win. I don't see it.

you want "mystery coaching powers," 'eh. Just ask Kevin Garnett.

"I'd swim an ocean for Rudy Tomjanovich."

Xs and Os is no mystery in BBall. Actually, highly overrated (as Pat Riley has recently said). The mystery is what makes the Xs and Os work. Managing the players and matching them to their proper Xs and Os, and making them *believe*.

beautifully said heypartner...and actually capturing that magic that the rockets had for 2 years was pretty amazing. i dunno about other people, but during those 2 years you just knew the rockets were going to win those games. whereas when going for the 3-peat something just seemed different about that playoff run...like we didn't have enough to make it.

and pasox...what exactly are you thinking? how about you take away the lakers last championship because if they didnt have robert horry then they wouldnt have won. i guess he just bailed out phil jackson. maybe jordan just bailed out phil jackson too. i'm sure you can say that for any coach in the league...geez man...the players play the game not the coaches. its the coaches job to manage the players. players LOVE rudy t...thats why he is a great coach. rudy t also finds players from nowhere and fits them into the rockets. this rudy bashing and cat bashing is getting out of control....how about you people be positive for once?

Coaches that are better then Rudy:
Jackson, Adelman, Brown, Rivers, Thomas, Pat Riley, and the Piston's coach (I forget his name), just to name a few.

It seems like more people are not very satisfied with Rudy. But he had 2 championships with the Rockets. Is he digressing now? Because of the zone that he mentioned he never dealed with before.

Thanks you *******. Sorry. I'm sure you've never forgotten anything. Their coach is Carlisle. I remember now. I'm sure that you are perfect.

It's easy to to point out Rudy's failures. But let's look at what he has done.

We won 2 championships, was one of the top teams for for about 5-6 years, suffered through a few years of rebuilding process, and now has a great young team with 2 players(Ming and Francis) who should be perennial all-stars for the next 10 years.

Put any other coach as in Rudy's shoes for the past 10 years, and how many can you truly say would do better than that?

Where are Thomas, Adelman(who has a ton of talent in Sacto), and Carlisle's rings again?

Rings don't automatically make you an elite coach. Rudy had Dream and Clyde. If Thomas, Adelman, or Carlisle were our coach at that time they wouldn've had 2 rings also.

    Isiah Thomas sucks.

He barely squeeked into the playoffs last year in the EAST with the same squad.

It's the talent, not the coaching.

I'd just like to repeat: Thomas sucks.

This whole Mr. Francis, Mr. Mobley, Mr. Tomjanovich, Mr. Thomas talk reminds me of Mr. Arbitrator..."hama lama" = "Mr. Arbitrator"??

What has Isiah Thomas done, exactly?

Last year his really talented team underachieved themselves into the 8th seed in a ****ty conference, and after a 13 game stretch all of a sudden he's a good coach? malarkey.

    It's the style/system that Isiah is implementing....and it's working.

His team, is playing like a TEAM and it's fun to watch for basketball purist
    and non-purist alike.

It's not that he's won anything. But Isiah has shown improment in his
    team.

I mean, I hope you don't mean to say that the Pacers are a sucky team...
...and it's all just a fluke.

    They have all the pieces...

    Miller, Tinsley, Artest, O'Neal (H.S.), Harrington (H.S.), B. Miller,
    Mercer, Bender (H.S.)...
