Mr. Goldberg has canceled his trip to Xi An to see terracotta warriors. He is looking forward to meeting CBA officials again to discuss Ming's duty of NT.

Windandsea: In the West most Chinese revert their mames to the order used in the West.
ie:- Hung Heen Yee is now Heen Yee Hung, and is refered to as Mr. Hung.
Will Yao Ming understand this when he is called Mr.Yao? One positive, his name from a western point of view sounds correct even in its Chinese form! You might find him being refered to as Mr. Ming if he uses the Chinese form in the West. The Rox should put out the word, prior to his arrival. IMHO

Mr. Yao, my friend, Mr. Yao. If he revert his name it be Ming Yao, so its still Mr. Yao. Personally i don't see a big difference with reverting names, if he fills out anything formal, i.e. driver licence, its still Yao, Ming. Just in casual talk people would/should either refer to him Ming or Mr. Yao, makes no defferense really.

In China we fans call him Yao Ming when we see him, it's ok 'cuz it's just two syllables. It would be a certainly cumbersome way in the English world, imagine calling Rudy "hey, Rudy Tomjanovich" everytime you see him.

Agreed, just called the dude Yao Ming, think of it as one word and then there would be no problems. But definitely don't call him Ming Yao, just sounds f#@ked up if u ask me.
