I guess I'm the only one that enjoys using the subscription based services like Napster, Yahoo, etc... I had an iPod 4th gen, but I sold it last summer to have spending money on a vacation--plus I wanted to get one that would work with the subscription services. It seems to me like there would be a market for some company to create a hack in order to be able to play .WMA files on the iPod....I'm still looking for a portable music player that fits my need. I don't really feel like I need one with 30 gigs of storage, anywhere between 2 and 10 gigs would probably suit me fine.

Why not just get an Ipod nano? holds I think 4 GB. Unless you're hardbound on using .WMA's

iTunes will convert .wmas to mp3s for you. You are right about the iPod not working with the subscription based sites. There is a 4GB Nano for 249. But why not spend 50 bucks more for 30GB? I mean, wheather you need all that space or not, it is better to have too much space than not enough.

One thing that people forget they can use their iPods/MP3 players for is file storage, file backup or file transfer... once you get yourself into using it for a file storage device as well you really like it. I'm in IT so I used this a lot more then most people would but either way it is a nice feature.

I liked the subscription services too. I used my Zen Micro with Napster for about six months, and I loved it. Unfortunately, I dropped the Zen Micro and broke it -- I'm planning on getting a Zen Vision:M in the next few months, and you can use the subscription services with it.

Time for this thread to get a bump.

Okay, I'm going to buy an MP3 player, but I have no idea which one to buy. I'd like to get a 10 or 20 gig for about 200 bucks or so. My girlfriend has a Gigabeat, and it seems to work pretty good. I also looked into the IAudios and they seem pretty good. Overall, the gigabeats are cheaper. I just don't know which of the two I should get.

Another question: I currently have about 725 songs on my playlist that I'd end up putting on the player. A 10 gig should be enough, shouldn't it? That should leave me with plenty of room for additions??

i'm thinking of rewarding myself with an mp3 player if i do well in next week's midterms.

i need a flash mp3 player cos i'd like to be able to use it for jogging and working out. i'd like good quality sound (good signal-to-noise ratio) and able to play any mp3s (not just ones bought from a certain website only).

    help guys?

I finally decided to take the plunge and get an mp3 player. Main motivation was to keep my workouts from getting stale, so I wanted to get a sporty, durable flash player w/ about a gig. Looked at the Nano but it just seemed too fragile and prone to sratches. Did some exhaustive research and ultimately I settled on the Iriver t10 ... it has a great, sporty look (my opinion) and seems perfect for the active mp3 user. Supposed to have great sound and the only downside it seems is that you HAVE to have XP and WMP 10.

why the t10 and not t30?
there's a store selling the t30 1 gig for the same price as t10 512 MB.
t10 has a color display, more battery life but heavier and more expensive.

Among that line of players, the t10, t20 and t30 I just liked the t10 the best. It also seems it got slightly better reviews too and has up 45hrs of battery life compared to 24 for the t30. Plus I was able to get the t10 1-gig for about the same price as the t30 (50 bucks off at Best Buy)

I Really like the looks of this one and its features. however a sticking point to me is that i would want to play my music in the car as well. How do i go about doing that? is it possible with this device? any help would be appreciated.

I have something made by Belkin that I bought at Walmart for about 20 bucks. It's a little black thing that connects through your headphone jack. It works very well, but it goes through batteries faster than I'd like. Nothing too big, just a little too fast. Another thing is that it only has like three pre-set stations you can use(I think there is another where you can use any station), but I'm in the middle of nowhere, so that's no big deal.

    It's worth it.

Interesting. I got a 2Gb nano for my daughter (the first Apple product I'd ever purchased), and the poor girl could scarcely touch the damn thing, because I kept playing with it, and checking out iTunes. So I went out in search of a 4GB black nano for myself. This took forever to locate, but I finally did. For some reason, I didn't rip open the box. Not long after that, I heard about some "video iPod" coming out. Eventually, I traded in the nano for a 30GB iPod, got home, changed my mind again and went with the 60GB. (what a long tale!)

I love the thing. I got an Altec-Lansing inMotion player to pop the iPod into, which I highly recommend. It has a very wide soundstage, really excellent sound for such a small player, with my only complaint being the crappy remote. It has only on/off, volume, and next song (or the last one), so I end up going to the iPod to pick out something to play. One of the great things about it is being able to pop some D batteries inside and play it anywhere.

I know there are other good choices out there, but I love the software Apple uses, and iTunes rocks. I've listened to more music since I got into it then I had for a very long time. i've been going through my hundreds of LPs, looking for songs to download that have been remastered. It's a trip!

I came across that as well. My question is, can it be used on ANY mp3 player? such as the one i posted about earlier? if so then i might go ahead and invest in that mp3 player if this is true. Thanks again
