Maybe not in the same stratosphere of many DnD posters but coastal Texas has some great, humble folks. Maybe one day we can level up. https://ccatexas.org/
Being from south of Houston, you won’t find me talking up many more places more than Galveston. I know it’s a dump but I just love everything about it.
It’s an actual place. Guess you’re not a “real” Texan (kidding nobody knows where this place is). It’s a po dunk town in between Hou and SA.
Dude. that's awesome. Never stopped there but I've been through it on my way to several Polish/Czech towns.
I spent a couple weeks in the summer in and around Utica about fifteen years ago. I really liked it. I wasn't much of a drinker but got dragged to several bars by a friend of mine. In every one, I had non-stop people buying me drinks. Some good people. I guess that doesn't quite qualify as upstate tho.
I checked a map a moment ago. If you're north of there, I envy you. I hate city life and love the Northeast. I just can't talk my wife into it.
So this is the oldest Polish/Slovak church in Texas: http://www.pannamariatexas.com/ I shook Lech Walesa's hand there (some sort of anniversary thing) He was an impressive, imposing, figure.
"Stopping" at Snows in the middle of the afternoon and expecting to be able to buy barbecue is the rookiest of rookie moves. No wonder you don't feel comfortable in Texas. You gotta do more than just hit "bbq" in google maps and see what comes up. By the way, I spent time in that "buttcrack" of Lexington, TX, and I met some of those warm, hospitable, respectful people in my life. Is it "cool" now to hate Texas?? Buh-bye! I hope this deters more California nuts from relocating here.
California has a higher standard of living than Texas. But you do see the irony if being offended that people are off put by rural Texas especially people of color and yet you call Californians "nuts".
