My wife and I are moving to Seattle in August. Any tips on where to live? I'll be working at Microsoft but we would like to live downtown. We've only been Seattle once before so we're not terribly familiar with the city and different neighborhoods. Any Seattle area Clutchfans help a brother out?
Congrats! Seattle is awesome... though I haven't spent a full year there. ScriboErgoSum (sp?) is the resident Seattle expert on the board, though I think a couple of other folks live there as well. You should probably give people more info about yourself. Microsoft is in Redmond as you know, so importance of commute vs. importance of being close to the city will likely be huge in deciding where to live. Also, you'll probably get more advice here: http://www.city-data.com/forum/seattle-area/
Stone cold hakeem, since you are moving away. I want to dedicate a poem to you and your wife... Stone cold Hakeem, with his wife moving to Seattle to live his dream, Rain everyday, going through life asking when will the pain go away?, When the summer is gone, so will SCH and his wife to began their new life, new home, You will be truly missed SCH, therefore I leave you with this blue poem.. Farewell my brother.
Pack plenty of shorts and sandals for those beautiful sun shiny days. And congrats on Microsoft breh.
Isn't Seattle usually near the top of the list for suicide rates ? May have some link to the rain making depressed ppl even more unhappy . I also remember reading that the sun is only out maybe 100 days in an entire year .

It's a great city, lots to do down town, it's progressive, beautiful widlife and nature nearby, etc etc.. I personally like it better than Houston if given a choice.
You should go slap some people at the xbox one division and tell them to get their ish together. Good luck in Seattle.
Congrats! I'm definitely a little jealous... I keep hearing (not just in this thread) that Seattle and the whole region for that matter is a very beautiful . Besides the rain I don't see a any negatives in you living in that part of the country. Good luck! (P.S) Didn't happen unless you take a picture with Bill Gates... ....... ....... .......
Isn't the rain thing a myth? They get less annual rainfall than Houston. Yes, it's cloudy and misty a lot, but I can certainly deal with highs in the 70s during the summer. I was there just last week and it was absolutely beautiful. If I thought I could convince my wife to leave Texas, Seattle is where I'd go.
It's not a myth, it rains a lot it just doesn't do it in huge showers like we get here. You have a lot of days of just damp misty rain. It's freaking gorgeous in the summer though.
I absolutely love Seattle. Beautiful, temperate, lots to see and do and the people are very nice. That said, if you are working at Microsoft, you may not want to live downtown. Downtown is expensive, and the floating bridge across Lake Washington to get to Redmond is a pain in the ass during rush hour.
